I finally got it

Post by Stele »

For the past few years (ya, I let it go that long), I've wanted to get this game, but work and school have prevented it. I know that my life would disappear into a black hole if I did, but now that school is over I can say I'm an owner of WITP-AE. I remember playing a lot of Uncommon Valor and that I wanted this one. I've followed the forums now and then with envy.

I'm hoping its still not too late and that this game's following is still strong.

I know that certain people in my life anticipated this major move in my life; but I believe I am prepared for all major consequences.

Congrats.  Kiss your life goodbye.  Sounds like you want a PBEM.  Game is still going strong.

If you have a wife, try to get her to understand that she is no longer your top priority at least during waking hours....

LOL. I'm loving these comments. Thanks for the warm welcome. Getting my feet wet with the Battle of Coral Sea to familiarize myself with mechanics. A lot like Uncommon Valor, but very fine tuned.

Stele, take time to read the manual ( and learn to Control+F its contents) and try to play the Coral Sea scenario before jumping into the grand campaign.

Like others have said, welcome to your first 12 step meeting, "I'm addicted to AE." [:D]

Get the last official patch and then get the latest Beta. They will give you enhancements that make the game even better.

Good advice in general, _Stele. However, please note that the manual has never undergone a revision, whereas the game has undergone a great many. I would look to the printed manual as only a rough approximation of where things are today. Still, not a bad idea to read it.

Very important advice! And there are some PDF documents in the game folders that are new since the manual and which are also worth a read and occasional reference. Do also read through all of the Beta release notes. While necessarily terse, they contain important notes on changes. Expanded information is almost always on the forum already.

_Stele, soon you will be __Stele!

12-step meetings imply the desire to recover.

I don't know about recovery. What, its not normal to lock yourself in a room with your computer for 12 hours a day? GP

If you're married, contact a local florist to have roses delivered on birthdays, anniversaries, etc. This will help if you forget because you are planning the invasion of Truk.
