Brigades into Units

Gary Grigsby’s War in the East: The German-Soviet War 1941-1945 is a turn-based World War II strategy game stretching across the entire Eastern Front. Gamers can engage in an epic campaign, including division-sized battles with realistic and historical terrain, weather, orders of battle, logistics and combat results.

The critically and fan-acclaimed Eastern Front mega-game Gary Grigsby’s War in the East just got bigger and better with Gary Grigsby’s War in the East: Don to the Danube! This expansion to the award-winning War in the East comes with a wide array of later war scenarios ranging from short but intense 6 turn bouts like the Battle for Kharkov (1942) to immense 37-turn engagements taking place across multiple nations like Drama on the Danube (Summer 1944 – Spring 1945).

Brigades into Units

Post by baldbrother »

If it's not too much trouble could someone explain the mechanics of turning Russian Rifle Brigades and Tank Brigades into Divisions etc? I know there are certain dates involved. Is it just the button "B" or the rectangle icon? Do you have to be anywhere in particular for it to happen. Any help greatly appreciated. Maybe I'm a bit slow but I find the manual to be not very clear (at least for me).

Hi

first check out the Soviet conversion thread in the war-room, that will tell you when you can do what.

Basically to convert rifle brigades you need 2 in a hex (with at least 1 MP each), on the map mode you will find an empty rectangle symbol, click on the units then on this and they will become a division. The only little problem here is that naval rifle brigades need a bit of care.

tank brigades to tank corps is similar except you need 3 such brigades in a hex. Later on you can convert mot/mech brigades to mech corps using the same routine. You can't directly build either tank or mech corps.

there is a keyboard short cut but I've never used it [;)]

Could someone tell me why the two brigades in the attachment won't convert using either the b key or the rectangle in map mode.
I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. Thanks

Sorry. This bit was obscured. It's the 12th of March 1942.

Hi

really suggest you read the conversion thread (here), it will save you a lot of frustration.

You are doing everything right, except that T39 is too early for the conversion to be made

Actually the thread loki referred to is a bit out of date. According to the current version of the manual, infantry brigades cannot from divisions until May 1942.
