T34 - South

Preparing to encircle D and Z town. Airlanding division gets temporarily encircled. Continued push to the lower Dnepr. I want to occupy all the swamp hexes.

I decide not to move that brigade towards Romania. Instead it is swinging north but is one hex short of a minor encirclement. It is very chaotic here. All his troops are pushing from the east and I am mostly pushing to the north and west.

If I remember correctly I moved an airbase into this pocket to provide better fighter, bomber and recon coverage.

T35 - North

T35 - North

Well it is pretty much over in the north. I just can't break through here. Totenkopf division is just too powerful and fortifications are too strong. I thought about my strategy and the flaw in my plan was that I didn't put some cavalry corps up north to attack the hexes with the finish troops. It might have been possible to relieve Leningrad but it would have required at least 3 cavalry corps each with 3 sappers.

I continue to push were it is easy but the bulge will have to be eliminated come March.

Slow motion encirclement of D + Z town. The Romanians have some fight left thanks to swamp terrain.

Awesome fighting back and forth. He plows through with a motorized division and I surround and route it. A really good fight in this sector. Finally, a Romanian division shatters.

You have a nice collection of guards units. That bodes well for the future. By the way kudos for a great campaign so far.

Thanks, it certainly has been an interesting campaign so far.

I am not really sure what's going to happen now. There was no March offensive. Wherever he attacked I was able to counterattack. Leningrad has fallen now. I am unable to determine where the summer offensive will start. He is already building lots of forts in the center of the front. Should be interesting.

It is the same old story in the north, center and southwest so I skip the screenshots.

In the south I have almost encircled Dnepropetrovsk and I did encircle Zaporozhye with the help of airborne drop # 3 and 4. I continue to focus on the Axis allies.

Zaporozhye is evacuated but a Romanian division with 20 CV remains in Dnepropetrovsk. The combat result shows what happens when you don't plan the sequence of your attack. I should have attacked the flanks first instead I go straight for the city. The first attack fails but the second attack succeeds.

I will try to hold Zaporozhye and Dnepropetrovsk as long as possible.

I continue to retreat towards the city and start evacuating the first divisions. A Held result to the east of the city will make the evacuation easier.
