1.9.5.3 - Immortal Sand Slug

Post by unclean »

Save game on the ftp: 1.9.5.3 - immortal sand slug.dwg

Every few months on Varunat a sand slug spawns on top of the planet, even though it's colonized.

I've probably killed this thing a dozen times. This save is pretty early in the game, when it first appeared.

e: never mind, see below. I was hoping for retribution for the four space ports this thing ate, but this is pretty cool.

Willing to bet that the planet has the Korrabian Spice resource and it's a Desert Planet. If so,
it's working as designed. The Spice (as ala Dune) produces the Sand Slug on a periodic basis. Best
to keep a Cruiser or Destroyer on patrol in orbit to eradicate it when they appear.

It's cute at first but it gets old fast.
Still, even a stock SSP will take care of it, and considering that there are 0 (if you are very unlucky) - 2 (if you are very lucky) planets in a given game with Korrabian spice on them spaceport should be a priority for it.
