Any chance of a view of your supply/resource/oil/fuel levels in the Home Islands? I'd like to compare, if you could be so kind.

Japan exc Hokkaido: 1,136,178 supply 4,268,400 fuel 8,747,711 resource 1,773,554 oil
Hokkaido: 62,706 supply 50,136 fuel 229,282 resource 508 oil

Home Isle supply has been kept comfortably above 1,000,000 since turn 241.

All three of fuel, resources and oil are increasing slowly. For example, 20 turns ago they were at 4,135,089 fuel 8,276,845 resource 1,727,629 oil.

Fuel stocks in distant parts have more or less reached their minimum levels. Oil I have a build up at Miri/Brunei and about 400,000 at intermediate points (Luzon, Formosa, Singapore) that needs shifting home.

Have you put any kind of HQ in Port Arthur?

Given your night time results, go ahead and hit Lunga's port. What is the worst that could happen?[:D]

There is an Army HQ that I think has been sitting there forever. The two static units, a small unit to meet garrison needs and a training group of Idas. Supply demand should be small. As the biggest place in Manchuko it is where supply should pool in that area, but China should be able to draw from it.

Fighters sweep Munda but there is nothing there. While they are away, B-17F hit Buka port and sink 2 ACM.

SS Porpoise finds a working torpedo and hits an xAK carrying a shipping engineering company near Truk. With 12 fires and 28/58/31 damage it is touch and go whether it can make it to Truk.

2 Mavis on search are lost to CAP over Tulagi.

Sinking sounds suggest Empress' Asia has sunk.

December 24th 1942

Air Losses: 15 Japanese, 6 Allied, 7 Pilots
Japanese occupy:
Allies occupy: Nauru Island, Derby
Japanese land at:
Allies land at: Nauru Island

Pacific

Allies bombard Nauru Island at night and then land during the day, the defense had collapsed under the bombardments. RO-64 puts a torpedo into the South Dakota as she withdraws.

During the day:
Morning Air attack on TF, near Nauru Island at 127,128

Weather in hex: Light cloud

Raid detected at 36 NM, estimated altitude 4,000 feet.
Estimated time to target is 13 minutes

Japanese aircraft
A6M2 Zero x 24
G3M3 Nell x 13

Allied aircraft
Martlet II x 3
F4F-4 Wildcat x 23

Japanese aircraft losses
A6M2 Zero: 4 destroyed
G3M3 Nell: 3 damaged

Allied aircraft losses
F4F-4 Wildcat: 2 destroyed

Allied Ships
BB Maryland
BB Colorado

Aircraft Attacking:
13 x G3M3 Nell launching torpedoes at 200 feet
Naval Attack: 1 x 45cm Type 91 Torp

The zero pilots valiantly protect the Nells to get them all through to make their attack runs. All head for Battleships (might have been better if they headed for the transports). All miss[:@].

Also
Morning Air attack on TF, near Tarawa at 136,128

Weather in hex: Overcast

Raid detected at 34 NM, estimated altitude 6,000 feet.
Estimated time to target is 12 minutes

Japanese aircraft
A6M2 Zero x 9
G3M3 Nell x 11

Japanese aircraft losses
G3M3 Nell: 7 damaged
G3M3 Nell: 1 destroyed by flak

Allied Ships
DD Mahan
BB Washington

Aircraft Attacking:
11 x G3M3 Nell launching torpedoes at 200 feet
Naval Attack: 1 x 45cm Type 91 Torp
All miss again[:@]!

Burma area

Air strikes at Warazup do no damage to my defenders and a bombardment attack is launched:
Ground combat at Warazup (63,41)

Allied Bombardment attack

Attacking force 1665 troops, 132 guns, 20 vehicles, Assault Value = 884

Defending force 13393 troops, 128 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 475

Japanese ground losses:
28 casualties reported
Squads: 0 destroyed, 2 disabled
Non Combat: 0 destroyed, 2 disabled
Engineers: 0 destroyed, 0 disabled

Allied ground losses:
23 casualties reported
Squads: 0 destroyed, 0 disabled
Non Combat: 1 destroyed, 2 disabled
Engineers: 0 destroyed, 0 disabled
Guns lost 3 (1 destroyed, 2 disabled)

Assaulting units:
3rd Carabiniers Regiment
267th Armoured Brigade
70th British Division
7th Armoured Brigade
3rd Cavalry Regiment
6th Medium Regiment
26th Indian Mountain Gun Regiment
IV Indian Corps
77th Heavy AA Regiment
20th Indian Mountain Gun Regiment
23rd AA Bde
24th Indian Mountain Gun Regiment
25th Indian Mountain Gun Regiment
22nd Indian Mountain Gun Regiment

Defending units:
7th RTA Division
68th/A Division
68th/C Division
55th Mountain Gun Regiment

The defenders lack AT capability so this may be a problem but it should take a while to wear down.

China

Quiet.

Australia

Allies easily capture Derby.

Pacific

In a shocking development: 17 Nells break through CAP to attack BB Colorado and Maryland to score a hit upon the BB Colorado[:)]. 8 Zeroes are lost to clear the path through the CAP. With amazing optimism, intel claims the Colorado as sunk - what are these guys on!

Search has now confirmed at least two carriers operating near Nauru but it looks like it may just be the smaller, British, carriers and CVLs.

Burma area

Allies are content to bombard at Warazup. Supply to this base may be a problem.

China

Bomb troops at Paoshan and the Allies also try to bomb my troops.

Liberators hit Patung destroying 1 Helen on the ground but losing three to the defense by Ki-43-IIb.

Australia

Engineering

Allies expand Tezpur airfield to 1. This will give them another air base secure behind the front lines.

Good job at Munda.[:)]

What did you have at Nauru? Did this attack kind of come out of the blue? You spotted the BB force the day before but not the troop transports? What did he land with?

A naval guard unit. Not totally out of the blue as I had spotted forces poking around the area a week or so ago. In consequence the area had a lot more subs in place.

He bombarded with 3 task forces, BB South Dakota, North Carolina, and Washington. He had BB Colorado and Maryland embedded in the invasion force. He landed only for the last unloading phase, so could have had most of a full days move beforehand. The forces landed:
102nd Cmbt Engineer Regiment
640th Tank Destroyer Battalion
145th Infantry Rgt /1
14th USN Special Construction Battalion
154th Field Artillery Battalion
209th Field Artillery Battalion
96th Cst AA Rgt /1
By the start of combat the defense was already at 0, I guess completely disrupted. I had been optimistic as during the landing he suffered many disablements (but only 1 engineering vehicle destroyed).

When you've a single unit defending, forts make zero impact. All those battleship shells focused on a single unit means that the defenders' ears are still ringing from the explosions when the assault wave storms ashore.

Agreed

The defense was a token defense to force him to commit, not a serious attempt to hold.

Quiet, still not clear how many carriers near Nauru.

Burma area

Allies bomb Warazup and bombard both for little effect.

Unconfirmed sightings by Glens in the Indian ocean of task forces of about 8 ships. At 16,62 near Diago Garcia and at 8, 100 either heading for or bypassing air search out of Cocos Islands.

China

Air strike at Paoshan meets heavy flak (9 planes lost) and does some damage. Ground attack makes good progress:
Ground combat at Paoshan (65,45)

Japanese Deliberate attack

Attacking force 13198 troops, 413 guns, 1038 vehicles, Assault Value = 538

Defending force 19523 troops, 170 guns, 99 vehicles, Assault Value = 252

Non Combat: 38 destroyed, 76 disabled
Engineers: 34 destroyed, 26 disabled
Guns lost 13 (4 destroyed, 9 disabled)
Vehicles lost 38 (3 destroyed, 35 disabled)

Australia

Allies hit Darwin and I have LRCAP from Saumlaki over it. The Allies escort with P-51D (correction: P-39D) and air losses are 26 for me and 6 for him. The Allied escort is just enough to prevent the fighters getting through to the bombers. This plan didn't work[:(]

I haven't destroyed the industry there and it is an automatic supply source so he gets 40 per day total. Some time ago I did shoot down a transport over Paoshan so he could be flying some supply in but as I have LRCAP over there, and don't get intercepts, I think it is not something he does regularly.
