Unit Symbols

Post by Jorm »

A question about the unit symbols in the game,

Will there be options like Harpoon to use little ship/sub/plane icons.

I like the current 'NATO' used in the screenshot/videos used but i dont know what they all are. I gather the current ones are those used by the military ?

Any one know of a good basic site to help work out what they all mean for for newbs/non-military like me ?

The other thing i really liked about Harpoon was the after action report where you saw all of the weapons expended etc. Any plans for something like that as well ?

cheers

Hello,

All our unit icons are stored as individual files on disk so they are very easy to mod. Most of our stock icons are NTDS and/or NATO APP-6 to conform with what one usually finds on real C2 systems but you can change them to whatever you are comfortable with. We even had someone suggest a Hello Kitty mod pack :)

You can easily copy that text to paste to your own AAR or use in any other way.

I agree that unit symbols such as those that were using in Harpoon could get me to purchase this title.
I want on intuitive way to interpret the info on the screen and won't spend the time looking up the military symbol counterparts to determine what each unit is.

Loved all of the Harpoon releases, and this appears to be a much improved version, Price is not an issue with me if the title provides everything I am looking for.

If the unit symbol thing is easily modded, I will wait until someone releases that mod.

Thank you

Hello,

You can find stylized (Harpoon-like) unit icons on our Downloads Page, courtesy of Terry Crawley.

On the same page you will find additional scenarios, and images for the database viewer.

Thanks!

It would be a good idea to sticky the links for mods, unit icons, etc. so that they're easily found.
Todd

I never thought that doing an AAR would be so time consuming and difficult.

Question about installing Stalintc's Stylized Icon Pack.
When extracting this as directed, it just crashes my game. Are there any more specific instructions? since I am not really a pc wizard at all.
Thank you o/

Destry50, you do not need to download them. These symbols are already part of the game. They can be set in "Game Options" window.

Thanks but I do not have any map display options at all. When I update it says I have latest version. I have ver 1.03. Tried to update to 1.04 but in game still says I have ver 1.03. very frustrating.

Go to 'Game' menu, last option, 'Game Options', second Tab 'Map Display'

I was an avid Harpooner and loved the stylized symbols but now that I am used to the NATO symbols they are simpler and easier to interpret.

Yeah agree about the NATO symbols are easier, but at this point I just want to see if I can get the other symbols to work at all. Which I CAN'T!
As I stated above I don't even have that option for MAP display on my game. I have gone through the endless loop(Directx/Net Frame) of trying to update this game to version 1.03 and still have no MAP Display option in game.
Thanks for the help though. I'll keep trying. For awhile anyway.
