Have been enjoying the world cup a lot. Fun to watch matches (have watched a lot of them with my mother in law, a football fan..., after babysitting days). Looking forward to the Holland - Chile match. We were sloppy against Australia but score easily (and we have proven we can turn matches twice so far).. Good times!

My heart bleeds for England...

icepharmy - Yes, I was impressed by Joel and CR vs Uruguay. VERY interested to see what they do against Italy. If this continues, I could see an Arsenal 3 headed snake. Keep Giroud, bring in Joel (free as he is already an Arsenal player), buy a third guy. That is a team with depth up top at last. I'd rather see Arsenal buy three 20M pound players than one 60M pounder. We are good, just need depth and a little more speed.

Fantastic game. I have yet to see a boring match in this WC.
Japn v Greece was pretty boring, except for the yellow and red cards flying around. Big people smashing into little people, no real fluid passing, defense was ok, midfield was pathetic, offense was non-existent. Kinda thought Japan would be out-gorilla'd, but they kept kosher and somehow kept the ball out of the net. Kudos for Japan, and Toilets for Greece; they couldn't get it done no matter how much they played like a bunch of barbarians.

Have to say I'm depressed at England's loss, but not really surprised. Too many players from too many places, and they all think they are hot $hit, and there's no real captain, and no real coach, and there's nothing that can make those guys play as a team. They have only themselves to blame.

Viva los Ticos!

Wow. Before the tourney I told a friend to watch out for Costa Rica, that they were stronger than most people thought and might spoil somebody's chances along the way and knock them out with an upset. I NEVER saw this. What a great day for them and for the CONCACAF region.

So true, yet the chances were there and again not finished. That Rooney header and another shot from ten yards out he put at the keeper's feet. Suarez, as much of a jerk as he is, finishes everything.

Lots of sad Italians out around London tonight. That match on Tuesday will be a blast.

I saw Costa Rica v/s Italy.

What a grat game, before the world cup no one gave 2 cents for the Ticos and they beat 2 ex world champions!!!

Altough I´m quite sad, my wife is Italian, therefore Italy is my second favorite team.

So Uruguay v/s Itally shall be a great and intense game, both palying to clasify.

after the Argentina-Iran snoozefest it sure seemed great. To me the biggest surprise is that Argentina and Brazil aren't firing on all cylinders.

Its only the first round, every one plays freely and scores are high.

In the next round where the loser gets the chop they buckle down and games get tight.

That will be when you know if these great teams are turned on.

Certainly Germany vs Ghana the best second half of the tourney to date. Thought the announcers unfairly harsh on Ozil. He had several passes that could've been assists with better play by the recipients.

Does this put the quality of the US win vs Ghana in a new light? Maybe.

We simply must do well vs Portugal. A win and we are through the Group de Muerte.

Snoozefest? That was a really exciting game - especially the second half. Iran should have had a penalty, were denied by a couple of great saves, defended heroically, but were cruelly denied right at the end by a bit of Messi brilliance. Not sure where snoozefest comes in.

It did have a couple of exciting moments, when Iran came alive for 15 minutes. A not given penalty Then Argentina scored in stoppage time. Not much else happened because Iran defended well and Argentina had no ideas. You are probably right though, at South Africa I would have said this was a quality game. I have also been getting an overdose of football and lack of sleep - here in Thailand the first game is at 11pm, second 2am, third 5am.

Watching the Ghana-US match I thought they'd give a good game no matter the opponent. They're so damn fast and aggressive, and play defense on the ball in all areas of the field. The back s can catch any forward and Muntari is so solid setting things up and locking down the middle.

I'd like to see both go through, but of course the US is there too. The Portugal match tonight will be a big one. I'll be staying up late here again!

I'm thinking against the rating, Belgium will win. The match will probably be awesome anyway.
