The Barracuda was a dual purpose attack plane. It was pressed into service as both a dive/glide bomber and a torpedo plane.

The same situation like B7A2 Grace for Japan.

The same situation like B7A2 Grace for Japan.
Same reason, it's a dive bomber/torpedo bomber.

And just to leave no mistakes, both the Barracuda and the Grace work in the game with both bombs and torpedoes.

Barracuda is really an ugly one, and not really successful. However, it was still better then good old swordfish...

The "Stringbag"(Swordfish) was by far the more successful plane.

Biplanes generally carry a greater load with less fuel consumption, and the open cockpit really belies its' attributes.

The Fleet Air Arm had some pretty weird looking aircraft.

In any case, the Stringbag stayed in service for the entire war because it was a very good aircraft compared to it's descendants. However it was slow and had relatively poor range. I think the Barracuda bested it in those two areas.
