Colonization Range

Post by PharAway »

Other than during game start is there a way to expand colonization range? I did a start in a clustered galaxy and I'm confined to my starting cluster. There are potential colonies just outside of arms reach. Is there a tech that I can research or a ship/station I can put down that expands my range? Thanks for the tips!

Your best bet is to find an independent colony and invade with a few troops to expand your reach. The colonization range will then extend from the invaded colony as well.

Yeah, colonization range isn't alterable once the game starts. In my current game, I reduced it to 1.5 sectors in a Varied Cluster galaxy. I ended up with this map. That's me in the middle, with a nice cluster to myself, but those three occupied systems out in no-man's-land are the starting point for 3 races. Sucks to be them!

Nope, that range you set is what you're stuck with
Would be nice if Erik coded in a tech effect that extended the range
AMD Ryzen 7 2700X 8 Core @3.7GHz
2x16 GB Vengeance LPX 2666MHz RAM
MSI RTX 2070 Armor 8G
SSD Drive

As for me I usually set colonization range to 2 sectors however I rarely play on clustered galaxy map type. Although If You like to play on Cluster map type I would strongly suggest to keep at least this range to '2' or even '3'.
