Didn't see where anyone answered this one. That's a big negatory.

Thanks, then I will hold the bombers until the airfield or port hits level 1.

I find it extremely difficult to follow these AARs where the blokes change all combatants to the same color.

How on earth can anyone tell your forces from your opponents?

Do you mean for example have all of the Japanese Combat text in Red and the Allied in blue, or something else?

I think HansBolter means the icons for TFs such as in post #305 where both fleets show white icons. I am not sure if the
same effect is appearing for ground units, although in your last China map all the units were yellow, and surely there should
be some red Japanese units known by the Chinese side?

I have always assumed that the loss of colour was something caused by the screen capture program since the units are an overlay
on the map file.

As far the the units in China there are a couple of red units on that map, but not many as in southern China he is mostly off of my screen expect outside of Ichang or in Wenchow.

Below is a map of northern China.

After working with my art folder I think I fixed the issues with the map color and screen shots issue. Thanks as I did not even see it.

29 May 42 - 30 May 42 Executive Summary

Seems I will need to rearrange my ASW coverage fro the Fiji - New Hebrides - New Caledonia Line. Looking at using some of the New Zealand and US Medium Bombers that have hit their 70 GND Skill. I have the PBY's for Naval search and AMs for ASNW. at each location but will supplement it will medium bombers.

Raiding
Submarine attack near Anatom SS I-2 AD Hamul, Torpedo hits 1, heavy damage (scuttled)
Submarine attack near Pukapuka SS I-172 xAK Adrastus, Torpedo hits 1, heavy damage (sinks)
Sub attack near Rabaul xAK Shinwa Maru, Torpedo hits 1 SS S-40
Submarine attack near Truk xAK Tamagawa Maru, Torpedo hits 1 SS Tautog

Fleet of Doom.
USN CAR DIV 1, USN CAR DIV 2, USN CAR DIV 3, USN CAR DIV 4, Force H, Force Z and the USN 1st Bat Div are in route from Baker Island and will arrive at Pearl in two days. These units will rest and refit. The plan is to put the Lexington and Saratoga in for their June Upgrades (42 days). Then swap the airframes and pilots around to best use on the remaining carriers. While this will cost me the two carriers, I will add the arriving Wasp, the repaired Enterprise and the Illustrious in their place. All of the US carriers will be flying the F4F-4 and most of the Marines will be in the F4F-3 or F4F-4s. Two of the US Carriers will be using the Avenger Diver Bombers, all others will be maxed out with Devastators.

KB and Mini-KB
Mini-KB (?) + KB (?) last seen off the coast of Java sometime ago. Location Unknown at this time could be anywhere.

Java
He is now at Soerabaja and within two hexes of Batavia --- with overwhelming force. This does not look good at all.

China
The Chinese ACU with Twelve I15's at Wenchow finds nothing in the air. He did bombard the hex for four days to work to burn off my supplies, supplies stand at 2.7K. We also have 47K troops in the max stacking of 40K. We swapping the one corps in Chusien with the one in Wenchow that is 3/4 disabled - this will fix the stacking limits in the next two days.

His army is also prepping for a 42/43 offensive once Wenchow falls. Moving units to hold the areas he is prepping to attack and protect against any Flanking maneuvers. Targets he is prepping for are: Sian, Wuchow, Changsha and Chenchow.

Dora the Explorer
One US Army FA Bn and One US Army Inf Bn hold the hex. One Base force in route from Pearl. One MAG HQ will also be sent from Pearl soon.

Airfield Level 2 - 100% Service Damaged, 61% Runway Damage and Port Level 3 - 55% damaged

Ceylon
At this point this appears to be his next major area of advance or possibly just a signal intelligence faint. Using Intel Monkey the following are shown prepping for Colombo: 61st Division, 67 Inf Bde and the 53rd Division. Right now I have four Indian Infantry Bde's on the Island once in each port with the forts for each Level 3 and climbing. I have the 22nd African Infantry Bde in route to Diego Garcia to help hold my flank. I am going to assume that Ceylon depends on the fall of Java to free up transports and his carriers.

The current operational plan is to see if I can turn this into a tar baby if he lands. The 23rd Indian Infantry Division is in route now to Colombo. In reserve we have One Air HQ and Indian Infantry Division at Madras. There is also one Indian Infantry Division is in Bombay.

Right now I am stripping the island down to 60K total supply and moving all but 40K of fuel back to India to deny him an gains. I will also move all of 100K of resources off the island. The air force can be moved to Madras as needed from the Indian/Burma boarder where it sits now.

Burma
All is quite with now four units on the other side of the river from Pegu. Intel Monkey shows the 55th Infantry Bde, 33rd Division, 204th Ship Eng Coy, 21st Med FA Bn, 15th Army, 55th Eng Reg, 112th Infantry Reg and 14th Ind. Art. Mortar Bn prepping for Rangoon.

In Rangoon to oppose them I have the 1st Burma Infantry Division, the 17th Indian Infantry Division, three Burma Infantry Bn, three base force Bn, the Burma Corps HQc, 28K of Supplies, Fort 4-87%, one AVG ACU, two British fighter ACUs. In Mandalay I have 38K of supplies, three poorly equipped Indian Armored Cav Rgts, the 7th Armored Bde, three Burma Infantry Bn, two base force and Forts 4 - 99%. There is one Burma Inf Bn and one Burma Inf Bde that will fall back from the front to support Mandalay as needed. May need to fall back to India as supplies run out if he grabs Ceylon and prevents any sea supply, as the British Fleet Carriers are with the Fleet of Doom

Operation Apple Jacks
One day late and a dollar short, so it is now a battle of attrition to regain Ndeni. Port at Vanikoro is now level 1, the Airfield 2-09% and the Fort 2-36%. Looking to scrounge up an AGP, ACM, PT boats and 150 mines.

Luganville is safe with Forts Level 3, Two CD LCUs, one ACM and 133 mines and six crappy DDs. If I can come up with the PT boats I will also add some here but this may take a while as I have a bunch of them in the Line Islands. The island has 284 Aviation Support and one Air HQ.

In the next 30 days or sooner the following will occur to support the advance on Ndeni in Phase 2:
1) See notes above about Mines, PT Boats, ACMs, AGP, etc.
2) The medium range bombers from Pago Pago will deploy to Lugnaville to smash the airfields or Ports that are built on Ndeni.
3) Additional units will be found to add to the 7th Marine Reg, 641st Towed TD Bn and the 4th FA Bn that are now prepping for Ndeni (25% and counting).
4) As we have sufficient lift now at the Line Islands for our operations there all new invasion lift will deploy to Suva where the land units for the invasion shall gather.
5) A trickle down of fighters to the four Marine ACUs at Pago Pago has started. As ACUs with the F2A-2 Buffalo's are filled out they will be added to the air war over the Santa Cruz Islands.
6) There are two US 25 Figher ACU's located in Brisbane, Noumea, Lugnaville, Suva, Savaii and Pago Pago that can be rotated in as need to Vanikora for air cover.

The goal is to turn this into a front where we can bring the same amount or more force into play and drain him of planes, supplies and pilots. I want to see if I can use up my current model airplanes before they cannot be used on the front lines in early 1943. The 1st Marine Raider Bn and the 8th Marine Def Bn, 1st US Naval Construction Bn , 13th MAG HQ, 2nd USMC Parachute Bn, 2/7 Commando Bn and the Del Monte AAF Base Force are at the base.

Operation Honeycomb
Planing for this operation is now underway, target date June 18th or when the KB/Mini-KB is spotted. The 40th US Infantry Division, 110th Combat Engr Bn and the 223rd FA Bn will attack Baker Island from Christmas Island. All units are prepping and are around 64%.

Operation Mr. T
The retaking of the Ellice Islands: Vaitupu and Funafuti. I want to make sure we keep the pressure on him from both the Southwest and Central Pacific. I think I am going to fall into a very historical Left-Right attack along the MacArthur and Nimitz lines of advance.

Forces TBD from Nadi in Fiji will attack Funafuti. The 754th Tank Bn, Americal Inf Div and the 205th FA Bn will attack from Koumac and take Vaitupu - 27% prepped and climbing.

As a quick update, game progress has stopped for a short bit, AirGriff is working on a technical issue with some of his units being lost in transit. There is a post in the tech support forums on this, we should have it corrected shortly and resume the game.

31 May 42 - 05 June 42 Executive Summary

Well now that we have gotten out technical issues sorted out let’s see about getting our game back off of page 2!

Raiding
Submarine attack near Pukapuka SS I-174 vs xAK Penrith Castle, Torpedo hits 3, on fire, heavy damage (later sinks)
Sub attack near Rabaul CVE Hosho, Torpedo hits 1 vs SS S-40
TF 401 encounters mine field at Rabaul SS S-40, Mine hits 1, on fire, heavy damage (later sinks)
ASW attack near Brisbane SS RO-60, hits 2 vs AM Punjab
TF 164 encounters mine field at Christmas Island SSX Ha-7, Mine hits 1, on fire, heavy damage
Sub attack near Semarang CL Katori, Torpedo hits 1 vs SS S-38

There is a lot of back and forth ASW work to no real gain around New Caledonia, no real damage on either side but with the added air units spotting I am making attacks now on the submarines and gaining some XP with my AM on ASW.

Fleet of Doom.
USN CAR DIV 1, USN CAR DIV 2, Force H, Force Z and the USN 1st Bat Div are at Pearl. Ready to deploy as needed. The Enterprise is two days out and will form USN CAR DIV 3, the Hornet should arrive on map on the 18th or June and will form CAR DIV 4.

Lexington and Saratoga in for their June Upgrades (41 days left). The Yorktown and Hornet have been upgraded to TBF-1 Avengers’. All carrier pilots have been swapped around this now allows for all both these carriers to have pilots will primary skill at or above 70. Experience for Fighter units is above 70, for DB/TBs it averages a little over 60. The Hornet has a Marine ACU using F4F-3s and the Yorktown Marine ACU will upgrade next turn to F4F-3s from F2A-3s.

KB and Mini-KB
Mini-KB (?) + KB (?) last seen off the coast of Java some time ago. Location Unknown at this time could be anywhere. There is heavy radio traffic at Rabaul so this is a possible area they are deployed.

Java
Soerabaja falls as two attacks and days of bombardment. He is within two hexes of Batavia --- with overwhelming force. This does not look good at all.

China
The Chinese ACU with Twelve I15's at Wenchow finds nothing in the air. He has continued to bombard the hex for days to work to burn off my supplies, supplies stand at 1.4K. We also have 45K troops in the max stacking of 40K.

One US Army FA Bn and One US Army Inf Bn hold the hex along with one base force. This operation is now complete and one PBY ACU is base out of the area for recon.

The 23rd Indian Infantry also defends Colombo. In reserve we have One Air HQ and Indian Infantry Division at Madras. There is also one Indian Infantry Division is in Bombay as a strategic reserve.

I have the 22nd African Infantry Bde in route to Diego Garcia to help hold my flank. I am going to assume that Ceylon depends on the fall of Java to free up transports and his carriers.

The current operational plan is to see if I can turn this into a tar baby if he lands. The air force can be moved to Madras as needed from the Indian/Burma boarder where it sits now.

Burma
This area just went active last turn, seems AirGriff forgot to add drop tanks to his fighters and his bomber force took a heavy hit even with his sweeps. There are no units now shown on the other side of the river across from Pegu. Intel Monkey shows the 55th Infantry Bde, 33rd Division, 204th Ship Eng Coy, 21st Med FA Bn, 15th Army, 55th Eng Reg, 112th Infantry Reg and 14th Ind. Art. Mortar Bn prepping for Rangoon.

In Rangoon to oppose them I have the 1st Burma Infantry Division, the 17th Indian Infantry Division, three Burma Infantry Bn, three base force Bn, the Burma Corps HQc, 24K of Supplies, Fort 5-09%, one AVG ACU, three British fighter ACUs. In Mandalay I have 34K of supplies, three poorly equipped Indian Armored Cav Rgts, the 7th Armored Bde, three Burma Infantry Bn, two base force and Forts 3 - 77%.

Port at Vanikoro is now level 1, the Airfield 2-52% and the Fort 2-78%. Looking to scrounge up an AGP, ACM, PT boats and 150 mines.

Luganville is safe with Forts Level 3, Two CD LCUs, one ACM and 133 mines and six crappy DDs (one CA in Route as well). If I can come up with the PT boats I will also add some here but this may take a while as I have a bunch of them in the Line Islands. The island has 284 Aviation Support and one Air HQ. Five B-17E ACUs are now at the Island to begin bombing the Level 1 Airfield at Tulagi. There is also one B-17D ACU and one LB-30 ACU at Suva that will also be used.

Operation Honeycomb
Planning for this operation is now underway, target date after June 18th or when the KB/Mini-KB is spotted. The 40th US Infantry Division, 110th Combat Engr Bn, 763rd Tank Bn and the 223rd FA Bn will attack Baker Island from Christmas Island. All units are prepping and are around 72%.

Operation Mr. T
The retaking of the Ellice Islands: Vaitupu and Funafuti. Allied high command wants to make sure we keep the pressure on him from both the Southwest and Central Pacific. I think I am going to fall into a very historical Left-Right attack along the MacArthur and Nimitz lines of advance.

From Nadi the 4 FA Bn, 32nd Infantry Div and the 192nd Tank Bn will attack Funafuti, preparation in the low 20’s. The 754th Tank Bn, Americal Inf Div and the 205th FA Bn will attack from Koumac and take Vaitupu - 34% prepped and climbing.

Operation Cookie-Crisp
The landing at Tabiteuea and Tarawa. Forces from Pearl will take these islands. At this point it is just planning and prepping. I don’t expect to be able to do this until all the carriers have completed their upgrades. The 27th Infantry Division, the 181st FA Bn, 763rd Tank Bn and the 134th Cmbt Engr Bn are all prepping for this in the mid-20s. The 21st Infantry Rgt (Restricted), 34th Infantry Rgt and the 34th Combat Engr Rgt are all prepping in the low 20’s.

Burma Air War Heats Up.....

With the drop tank mistake by AirGriff, I come out far ahead in two days for fighting over Rangoon. All three ACU's were set to 70% CAP, 30% Rest Zero Range. The AVG/1st Sqn (P-40E) at 15K, the No.136 Sqn RAF (Hur IIb) at 20K and the No.67 Sqn RAF (Buffalo I) at 15K.

A6M2 Zero: 4 destroyed
Ki-21-IIa Sally: 26 destroyed, 5 damaged

Hurricane IIb Trop: 1 destroyed
Buffalo I: 1 destroyed
P-40E Warhawk: 3 destroyed

I have two British ACU's with the Hurricane IIb and one with the Mohawk IV ready to rotate in. There are two US PO-40E ACU's and one P-400 ACU also ready. There are 35 P-40Es in the Pool (but the AVG withdraws in less than 30 days and will add ~25 more), 5 P-400s, 28 Hurricane IIb, 17 Mohawk IVs, 11 Hurricane IIc, 0 Kittyhawk I and 4 Hurricane XIIb. The No.111 Sqn RCAF is in Colombo with Kittyhawk I's that will also be added.

There are plenty of trained fighter pilots for the US and Canada (70 Air, 50+ Exp) in reserve. Brittan has only has about 20 Fighter Pilots in reserve that are trained, but given another 60 days there should be plenty of additional trained pilots. There are three Hurricane IIb British ACU's that are filled out but need the pilots to reach the 70 Air level before I will send them into combat.

Am I crazy to try and fight an air war this far forward at Rangoon? If this go south I do plan on cutting and running with the air force but I want to slow him down as much as possible and increase this losses and supply costs.

I have added the No.17 Sqn RAF (Hur IIb) at 20K but this will max out my Aviation Support in Rangoon. All four ACU's are now set to 70% CAP, 00% Rest and 0 Range.

KB and Mini-KB Spotted

Seems that the KB and possibly the Mini-KB are going to support operations around Rangoon. I just got the combat replay back and will need to post an update will all the fronts. The question that I have is as the KB is spotted what do I do?

Is a carrier raid at Truck out of the question? I could bring the Enterprise, Yorktown, Hornet, Indomitable, Illustrious and Formidable. I could replace one group of Avengers for Devastators, and I the training program is far ahead on pilots for the USN.

Or is that far to aggressive at this point in the game?

Do you have any intel on worthwhile targets at Truk?
It isn't worth risking your most important strategic asset against Nettie strikes unless you know you might bag a loaded
troop convoy, some CVE/CVL, or some CAs.

Once the Essex and Princeton CV/CVL types begin to arrive you will have enough depth in your carrier strength to go raiding when this will help support landings in the region.
Right now only do it if you can get a major gain.

No, and you are right just have to resist the need to do something. The bane of all Allied Players.[:-][:-]

06 June 42 - 13 June 42 Executive Summary

Well now that we have gotten out technical issues sorted with WITP:AE it now seems I am having some internet issue while traveling and I seemed to have lost one well written update. Really I sure it was my best post yet! We are now running on the current x8 patch (vs the x6) version. There was a short conference at Allied High Command and Hasley's plan to raid Truk has been shelved for the time being.

Mostly jockeying for position for the next action by both sides.

Raiding
Sub attack near Saishu To xAK Taigen Maru, Torpedo hits 1, heavy damage vs SS Pompano
Sub attack near Truk xAK Nichiran Maru, Torpedo hits 1, heavy damage vs SS Pollack
ASW attack near Shortlands at 108,131 APD Shiokaze, Torpedo hits 1, heavy damage vs SS S-44

There is a lot of back and forth ASW work to no real gain around New Caledonia, no real damage on either side but with the added air units spotting I am making attacks now on the submarines and gaining some XP with my AM on ASW.

Fleet of Doom.
USN CAR DIV 1 (Hornet), USN CAR DIV 2 (Yorktown), CAR DIV 3 (Enterprise), Force H (3 UK CVs), Force Z (Repluse) and the USN 1st Bat Div are at Pearl. Ready to deploy as needed. The Wasp is on map and in route to Peal to form CAR DIV 4.

Lexington and Saratoga in for their June Upgrades (32 days left). The Hornet and Yourktown Marine ACUs are using F4F-3s and the Enterprise Marine ACU is using the F4F-4.

KB and Mini-KB
Mini-KB (?) + KB (?) eight hexes from Port Blair and Rangoon (nice positioning by AirGriff!) four days ago. Location Unknown at this time, suspect it was going to also provide air and naval cover but was pulled while he replenished his bomber force that was smashed.

Java
He is within two hexes of Batavia --- with overwhelming force. This does not look good at all and should fall long before the month is out.

China
The Chinese ACU with Twelve I15's at Wenchow finds a lot of trouble in the air. If the last six days we have been able to hold our own with losses, but he has now aborted the bombing and is sweeping with the Ki-43-Ic Oscar. I will contriune to fight in the air but as it has started to turn against me may withdraw soon. He has continued to bombard the hex for days to work to burn off my supplies, supplies stand at 1.7K (climbing). We also have 32K troops in the max stacking of 40K.

His army is also prepping for a 42/43 offensive once Wenchow falls. Moving units to hold the areas he is prepping to attack and protect against any Flanking maneuvers. Targets he is prepping for are: Sian, Wuchow, Changsha and Chenchow.

The 23rd Indian Infantry also defends Colombo. In reserve we have One Air HQ and Indian Infantry Division at Madras. There is also one Indian Infantry Division is in Bombay as a strategic reserve.

I have the 22nd African Infantry Bde in to Diego Garcia to help hold my flank. I am going to assume that Ceylon depends on the fall of Java to free up transports and his carriers.

The current operational plan is to see if I can turn this into a tar baby if he lands. Right now I am stripping the island down to 60K total supply and moving all but 40K of fuel back to India to deny him an gains. I will also move all of 100K of resources off the island. The air force can be moved to Madras as needed from the Indian/Burma boarder where it sits now.

Burma
There is some fighter action over Rangoon but I am more than holding my own.

In Rangoon to oppose them I have the 1st Burma Infantry Division, the 17th Indian Infantry Division, three Burma Infantry Bn, three base force Bn, the Burma Corps HQc, 24K of Supplies, Fort 5-22%, one AVG ACU, three British fighter ACUs. In Mandalay I have 34K of supplies, three poorly equipped Indian Armored Cav Rgts, the 7th Armored Bde, three Burma Infantry Bn, two base force and Forts 3 - 83%.

Port at Vanikoro is now level 1, the Airfield 3-09% and the Fort 3-06%. Looking to scrounge up an AGP, ACM, PT boats and 150 mines.

Luganville is safe with Forts Level 3, Two CD LCUs, one ACM and 148 mines and six crappy DDs + one the CA Chester. If I can come up with the PT boats I will also add some here but this may take a while as I have a bunch of them in the Line Islands. The island has 284 Aviation Support and one Air HQ. Five B-17E ACUs and one B-17D ACU, but we have stopped the bombing of the Level 2 Airfield at Tulagi (there is one LB-30 ACU that can also help later). We are working up upgrade two fighter ACU units to P-38E to sweep the base as well. He has ~40 Ki-43-Ic Oscar there at the present time, they were not able to hurt me but I want to be able to bag them when I resume. The Airfield will expand to the needed level eight in the next ten days and then we will resume the air war.

4) A trickle down of fighters to the four Marine ACUs at Pago Pago has started. As ACUs with the F2A-2 Buffalo's are filled out they will be added to the air war over the Santa Cruz Islands.
5) There are two US 25 Figher ACU's located in Brisbane, Noumea, Lugnaville, Suva, Savaii and Pago Pago that can be rotated in as need to Vanikora for air cover.

The needed lift is in place in Suva, unless there is a reason not to - four days after the landing at baker we will land to take this island back.

All units are prepping and are around 75%. The needed lift is at the island just waiting for the Wasp to arrive in Pearl.

From Nadi the 4 FA Bn, 32nd Infantry Div and the 192nd Tank Bn will attack Funafuti, preparation in the mid 20’s. The 754th Tank Bn, Americal Inf Div and the 205th FA Bn will attack from Koumac and take Vaitupu - 38% prepped and climbing.

Operation Cookie-Crisp
The landing at Tabiteuea and Tarawa. Forces will stage from Pearl will take these islands.

China Air War

Well the two AVG ACUs in the area have been pulled back to Chungking so the airplanes can repair so when the units withdraw they planes go to the pool and are not lost. At this time time I have 20 trained Chinese pilots in reserve and the following units with trained pilots (i.e. w/70 Air Skill) and deployed -

RE: This will End Badly Rook749 vs AirGriff

Post by rook749 »

14 June 42 - 17 June 42 Executive Summary

As we head into the fourth of July Holiday it won't be until the 4th that AirGriff is near a PC to send me back the last turn so this will have to hold me over for my WITP:AE fix!

Seems thathe is up to something off of Burma and I will explore this in a separate post is more detail.

Mostly jockeying for position for the next action by both sides as I wait for the Wasp to arrive in Pearl (6 - 8 more days) and then move on Baker Island.

I spent the last turn hitting every Allied Air unit on map, to move around pilots. All my non-training units now have 70 Primary sill and training secondary skills unless on the front line.

Raiding
Sub attack near Soerabaja AMC Asaka Maru, Torpedo hits 2, on fire, heavy damage vs SS Porpoise
Sub attack near Phuket AP Buenos Aires Maru, Torpedo hits 1, on fire,
Allied Ships SS Trusty, hits 4
Submarine attack near Ouv'ea SS I-158 vs AGP Sirius, Torpedo hits 2, on fire, heavy damage (later sinks)
Submarine attack near San Francisco SS I-4 vs xAK Manoeran, Torpedo hits 1, on fire, heavy damage (later sinks)
Submarine attack near Ta'u SS I-1 AK Ethel Edwards, Shell hits 5, Torpedo hits 2, heavy fires, heavy damage (later sinks)
Submarine attack near Vanikoro SS I-28 vs AGP Wega, Shell hits 5, heavy fires, heavy damage (later sinks)

These four days clearly go to him, each of my convoys had at least one escort and air cover but this time it did not matter. There are more AMs on the way to Fiji and Somoa but there are still at least a week out.

Fleet of Doom
USN CAR DIV 1 (Hornet), USN CAR DIV 2 (Yorktown), CAR DIV 3 (Enterprise), Force H (3 UK CVs), Force Z (Repluse) and the USN 1st Bat Div are at Pearl. Ready to deploy as needed. The Wasp is on map and in route to Peal to form CAR DIV 4 six to eight days out - the North Carolinia will join Force Z.

Lexington and Saratoga in for their June Upgrades (27 days left). The Yorktown, Enterprise and Hornet have been upgraded to TBF-1 Avengers’. All carrier pilots (minus Lexington and Satatoga) have been swapped around this now allows for all both these carriers to have pilots will primary skill at or above 70. Experience for Fighter units is above 70, for DB/TBs it averages a little over 60. The Hornet and Yorktown Marine ACUs are using F4F-3s and the Enterprise Marine ACU is using the F4F-4. The Lexington and Saratgoa air groups are training pilots like made, I should have enough 70 skills pilots to outfit these air groups outside of the TBs. I have two full PBY groups training the NavT skill (as of 12/08/41) but I don't think I will catch up in the next 27 days.

Mini-Doom
We are building a small CVE fleet. Currently it comprises the Long Island with 17 Marine F2A-3 Buffalo fighters. The CVL Hermes with 20 Sea Hurricane Ib aircraft is in route and will join this force at Christmas Island is ~10 days.

KB and Mini-KB
Mini-KB (?) + KB (?) eight hexes from Port Blair and Rangoon (nice positioning by AirGriff!) seven days ago. Location Unknown at this time, suspect it was going to also provide air and naval cover but was pulled while he replenished his bomber force that was smashed. Given the appearance of the invasion fleet (assumed target is Port Blair) I am going to assume this force will appear again shortly in support.

Java
He is within two hexes of Batavia --- with overwhelming force. This does not look good at all and should fall long before the month is out.

China
The Chinese ACU pulls back to regroup and rearm in the face of Ki-43-Ic Oscar sweeps. After two days of me not contesting he moves in with just escorting and bombing --- when the air unit recovers its moral I might looks at sending two Chinese ACU to back if the air field is still working. He has continued to bombard the hex for days to work to burn off my supplies, supplies stand at 2.1K (climbing).

I have the slow British force built around four BBs ready to hit him from Celyon if I determine that the KB/Mini-KB are elsewhere.

Burma
There is no fighter action over Rangoon.

At Rangoon to oppose them I have the 1st Burma Infantry Division, the 17th Indian Infantry Division, three Burma Infantry Bn, three base force Bn, the Burma Corps HQc, 24K of Supplies, Fort 5-29%, one P-40E ACU, three British fighter ACUs. There are four HDML's to provide bombardment cover.

At Mandalay I have 34K of supplies, three poorly equipped Indian Armored Cav Rgts, the 7th Armored Bde, three Burma Infantry Bn, two base force and Forts 3 - 86%. There is one Burma Inf Bn and one Burma Inf Bde that will fall back from the front to support Mandalay as needed. May need to fall back to India as supplies run out if he grabs Ceylon and prevents any sea supply, as the British Fleet Carriers are with the Fleet of Doom on the other side of the map.

At Port Blair I have four HDML, 1 ACM, 148 mines, 2 Base Forces and the 45th Indian Bde, 47K of Supplies and Fort 3-67%. All land units are 100% prep'd and the leader of the 45ht has been upgraded.

One day late and a dollar short, so it is now a battle of attrition to regain Ndeni. The goal is to turn this into a front where we can bring the same amount or more force into play and drain him of planes, supplies and pilots. I want to see if I can use up my current model airplanes before they cannot be used on the front lines in early 1943.

At Vanikoro is a Port level 1, the Airfield 3-33% and the Fort 3-12%, 12 PT Boats. Looking to scrounge up an AGP, ACM and 150 mines. The 1st Marine Raider Bn and the 8th Marine Def Bn, 1st US Naval Construction Bn , 13th MAG HQ, 2nd USMC Parachute Bn, 2/7 Commando Bn and the Del Monte AAF Base Force are at this location. There is one P-39D ACU and one PBY-5 ACU located at this base.

Luganville is safe with Forts Level 3, Airfield 6-14% Two CD LCUs, one ACM, Second Marine Divion + a lot of Friends, 148 mines and six crappy DDs + one the CA Chester. If I can come up with the PT boats I will also add some here but this may take a while as I have a bunch of them in the Line Islands. The island has 284 Aviation Support and one Air HQ. Five B-17E ACUs and one B-17D ACU ready to bomb the Level 2 Airfield at Tulagi (there is one LB-30 ACU that can also help later). We have intel has ~40 Ki-43-Ic Oscar there at the present time. The Airfield will expand to the needed level eight in the next ten days or so and then we will resume the air war. We have two P-38E ACUs that are repairing after the upgrade and one P-39D for local air defense.

In the next 30 days or sooner the following will occur to support the advance on Ndeni in Phase 2:
1) The medium range bombers from Pago Pago will deploy to Lugnaville to smash the airfields or Ports that are built on Ndeni, as air field space is created.
2) Additional units will be found to add to the 7th Marine Reg, 641st Towed TD Bn and the 4th FA Bn that are now prepping for Ndeni (12% and counting).
3) A trickle down of fighters to the four Marine ACUs at Pago Pago has started. As ACUs with the F2A-2 Buffalo's are filled out they will be added to the air war over the Santa Cruz Islands.
4) The two A-24 ACUs and one Marine SB2U-3 ACU will move from Luganville to Vanikoro for naval cover.
5) There are two US 25 Figher ACU's located at Suva and Pago Pago that can be rotated in as needed for air cover --- along with four 25 Fighter ACU's located at Noumea.

The needed lift is in place in Suva, unless there is a reason not to - four days after the landing at Baker Island we will land to take this island back.

All units are prepping and are around 90%. The needed lift is at the island just waiting for the Wasp to arrive in Pearl.

From Nadi the 4 FA Bn, 32nd Infantry Div and the 192nd Tank Bn will attack Funafuti, preparation in the mid 40’s. The 754th Tank Bn, Americal Inf Div and the 205th FA Bn will attack from Koumac and take Vaitupu - 50% prepped and climbing.

Operation Cookie-Crisp
The landing at Tabiteuea and Tarawa. Forces will stage from Pearl will take these islands. At this point it is just planning and prepping. I don’t expect to be able to do this until all the carriers have completed their upgrades.

For Tabiteuea the 27th Infantry Division, the 181st FA Bn, 763rd Tank Bn and the 134th Cmbt Engr Bn are all prepping for this in the mid-40s.

For Tarawa the 21st Infantry Rgt (Restricted), 34th Infantry Rgt and the 34th Combat Engr Rgt are all prepping in the mid-30’s.

Burma

My Submarine pickets seems to have found an invasion taffy from Singapore (See below). Before I sent the turn in I assumed he was going to for a landing at Port Blair and not for Rangoon, Ceylon or Diamond Harbor. I have also assumed that the KB and/or Mini-KB will be right behind but if it is not I have the Slow British BB Force in Ceylon ready to rock and roll.

Submarines have been routed accordingly, to protect Port Blair.

After looking at Intel Monkey I can't find anything to support that he is landing at Port Blair --- the only units that have been detected are set to hit Colombo or Rangoon in this area. Without the Invasion bonus I'm not sure he can take Port Blair without massive losses in men and/or time. He may go for Rangoon directly from the sea --- or a bold rush for Colombo.

Any thoughts?

RE: This will End Badly Rook749 vs AirGriff

18 June 42 - 19 June 42 Executive Summary

We got one turn in over the fourth and it was interesting. The invasion force south of Port Blair dropped off the map and he landing in the North Pacific. I will explore the North Pacific in more detail in another post.

Raiding
Sub attack near Anatom SS I-3 vs AM Punjab, Torpedo hits 1, on fire, heavy damage (later sinks)
Japanese Ships SSX Ha-10 vs xAKL Capitaine Illiaquer, Torpedo hits 1, on fire, heavy damage

There are more AMs on the way to Fiji and Somoa but there are still at a week out.

Fleet of Doom
USN CAR DIV 1 (Hornet), USN CAR DIV 2 (Yorktown), CAR DIV 3 (Enterprise), Force H (3 UK CVs), Force Z (Repluse) and the USN 1st Bat Div are at Pearl. Ready to deploy as needed. The Wasp is on map and in route to Peal to form CAR DIV 4 two to three days out - the North Carolina will join Force Z.

Lexington and Saratoga in for their June Upgrades (25 days left). The Yorktown, Enterprise and Hornet have been upgraded to TBF-1 Avengers. All carrier pilots (minus Lexington and Saratoga) have been swapped around this now allows for all both these carriers to have pilots will primary skill at or above 70. Experience for Fighter units is above 70, for DB/TBs it averages a little over 60. The Hornet and Yorktown Marine ACUs are using F4F-3s and the Enterprise Marine ACU is using the F4F-4. The Lexington and Saratgoa air groups are training pilots like mad, I should have enough 70 skills pilots to outfit these air groups outside of the TBs. I have two full PBY groups training the NavT skill (as of 12/08/41) but I don't think I will catch up in the next 25 days.

Mini-Doom
We are building a small CVE fleet. Currently it comprises the Long Island with 17 Marine F2A-3 Buffalo fighters. The CVL Hermes with 20 Sea Hurricane Ib aircraft are in route and will join this force at Christmas Island is ~10 days.

KB and Mini-KB
Mini-KB (?) + KB (?) eight hexes from Port Blair and Rangoon (nice positioning by AirGriff!) nine days ago. Location Unknown at this time, Given the appearance of the invasion fleet two days ago south of Port Blair I am going to assume this force will appear again shortly in support. It could also have been a feint to draw me into a battle and response in the North Pacific.

Java
He is within two hexes of Batavia --- with overwhelming force. This does not look good at all and should fall long before the month is out.

China
He has continued to bombard from the ground and air Wenchow to work to burn off my supplies, supplies stand at 2.1K (climbing).

I have the slow British force built around four BBs ready to hit him from Celyon if I determine that the KB/Mini-KB are elsewhere.

Burma
There is no air action over Rangoon.

At Rangoon to oppose them I have the 1st Burma Infantry Division, the 17th Indian Infantry Division, three Burma Infantry Bn, three base force Bn, the Burma Corps HQc, 22K of Supplies, Fort 5-33%, one P-40E ACU, three British fighter ACUs. There are four HDML's to provide bombardment cover.

At Mandalay I have 32K of supplies, three poorly equipped Indian Armored Cav Rgts, the 7th Armored Bde, three Burma Infantry Bn, two base force and Forts 3 - 88%.

Burma --- June 19th Update

My Submarine pickets seems to have found an invasion taffy from Singapore two days ago (See below) --- that has dropped off the map[:(][:(]. Submarines have been routed accordingly, to protect Port Blair, though this could simply be resupply run or a move to fake me out.

1st Tier Targets - Ceylon, Rangoon, Diamond Harbor (no prep) or Diego Garcia (no prep).
2nd Tier Targets - Massive Supply Run, Akyab, Chittagong, Cox's Bazar but he is not prepped for any of these.

Northern Pacific

AirGriff conducted a landing to take Attu Island with some carrier support. The carrier support hit some minor forces landing at Adak Island on my part (these forces will withdraw to Dutch Harbor).

Attu was not occupied by me (forces were in route) so it was a free landing not sure if this means a general offensive in the area or just a free land grab for space to trade for time later in the war.

At this time I have ordered the 14th and 16th Canadian Inf Bde to begin prepping to retake the island, both these units are in Los Angeles and are still restricted. The plan is to simply hold what we have and then look to take Attu back next summer.

Amchika Island:
Port 1, Airfield 2, Fort 3 - 34% and Supplies 15K. Units defending Cst AA Rgt, Base Group, US Sep Inf Reg and CD Art Bn.

Adak Island:
Port 2, Airfield 2, Fort 3 - 52% and Supplies 27K. Units defending Cst AA Rgt, Base Group and 2 Canadian Inf Bn.

Dutch Harbor:
Port 5, Airfield 0-87%, Fort 4 and Supplies 49K. Units defending two Cst AA Rgt's, CD Art Bn, USN Base Force, Const Rgt, Aviation Engr Bn, Port Maint Engr Bn, North Pacific HQ, USA Sep Inf Reg, Canadian Inf Bn. Group and 2 Canadian Inf Bn. There is one PBY ACU operating and a P-40E ACU that will arrive once the air field is level one.

I have a hard time thinking he is going for Ceylon, just seems too late in the game to do that. Same goes for the eastern India coast. So I'd guess either Port Blair or Assam, but my money would be on PB.
