Steam Summer Sale

Post by wings7 »

Steam is having their Summer Sale from June 19th to the 30th. They don't have the war game line-up like here on our beloved Matrix but there are some terrific Indie and Main Stream games on sale...some with large discounts! Check it out! [:)]

Consider Wasteland 2 if you like oldschool RPG's.

I've bought everything worth buying over the past several years. There's nothing there I want or like anymore. [:(] Waiting on Matrixgames games there to go on discount. [:D]

I have been looking at Age of Wonders III at 50% for the past day or so, and I think people here like it quite a bit. I might grab it before the 50% off sale ends in 17 hours.

I purchased Panzer Tactics HD at %50 off ($14.99). For Panzer Corps fans, this is pretty good.

Oh and this one also, (Ultimate General: Gettysburg) even though it was not on sale for $9.99 and early access to help shape the game I find it is really worth it. I absolutely love the way you can direct Troops to battle and areas with a simple mouse and drag click.

Re: Deal of the Week – Battle Academy and Pandora
Postby brucemcl777 » 26 Jun 2014 14:43

I don't own this and will buy it this week - and I would prefer to buy it from Matrix and just get the steam key with it.

However Buy Battle Academy Collection
Includes 7 items: Battle Academy, Battle Academy - Blitzkrieg France, Battle Academy - Operation Market Garden, Battle Academy - Operation Sealion, Battle Academy - Operation Husky, Battle Academy - Rommel in Normandy, Battle Academy - Fortress Metz
SUMMER SALE! Offer ends 30 June $39.99

and I don't see the equivalent offer on Matrix just the base game for $20 and the add ons for $30 - so am I missing something or do I have to go to steam to save the $10?

Thanks
Bruce

Generous of you chemkid but steam is leaving me broke as well - I'd much rather matrix simply price matched the deal since it is their game either way - and save the tenner to waste on 2 inferior $5 games for when I am too tired to take on the 3rd rheich.

Looks amazing and fun to play. Shows wargames can look good and it's very cheap for a wargame.

Many are saying it's too fast though an unrealistic. Needs a lot of tweaking.

Mercifully I've been saved from Steam sale credit card drainage this year by acute Xenonauts addiction.

How is that game Herston? I've been wanting a good X-Com remake does it live up to it?

Everything? No, not quite. But I have picked up Civ V Complete and Mount & Blade Warband. Fingers crossed on HOI Complete @ 75% but if not the summer sale then another sale down the road. Overall, very happy with what I have got and kept to my budget.

Best wishes,
Steve

I think so. As I've said elsewhere it has all the best bits of the original while losing most of the annoying bits (no need to keep re-ordering ammo, ability to end missions by capturing and holding the UFO, ability to airstrike a sight if a ground mission is inconvenient, etc). Ground combat is significantly better, being both a lot smoother and more tactical. The AI is still practically non-existent, but the design was always geared around that and anything else wouldn't really be X-Com. Missions are still very hard on occasion and can go south quickly.

I'm not sure the enhanced air combat really works that well, but some seem to like it and you can always skip it. Apart from the art style, and Cold War theme, the strategic game is much the same.

Just a note but Civ V "A Brave New World" is like $7.95 still. I hear it's pretty good expansion and that price is a steal to for it. [:)]

EDIT: Sorry Herst this was for Shun above you (I hate this web mechanics too draconic) [:-]

aaatoysandmore,

Thanks. But A Brave New World is part of the CIV V Complete package. The whole lot for £11.54. That's a very good deal and it's why I am very happy. [:)]

Bets wishes,
Steve
