Pirate colonies?

Post by Kaerwek »

So, I had the biggest pirate faction too close to me. Built up a matching size fleet, and went attacking. Now I've stolen their Galaxy Map, and destroyed all starbases I found (6 of them).

Still, according to the diplomacy screen, they have about 20 pirate colonies left, and around 8000 "attack strenght" (dont remember what it was called). No starbases are listed anymore. How do I find them?

I keep my explorers on automated, and they don't seem to want to revisit systems that I've no intel on since they've been last revisited.

Oh, and what do I do with the pirate colonies once I find them?

I think the pirate colonies are where they got influence. This can be independents or empire colonies, and may or may not require a hidden structure (I don't know...). If they capture a colony you should see it on the map, although they may be somewhat hard to spot depending on the color of the pirate faction.

If you grab all independents, and they have no base, they should be quite unable to refuel and repair. I guess gas mines work for the refuel part, though. Be aware that if they have or capture a construction ship they may build a new spaceport, although that should be hard with no "home" to pick up resources at.
