story events (spoilers)

What are the story events? There are three checkboxes at the beginning of a custom game for the standard events, return of the shakturi, and age of shadows. I know there is an invasion if you check the shakturi box, but what are the events for the other two?

Shakturi is the ancient guardians and the end game mess.

Original story is discovery of the history, ship graveyards, some planet destroyers to restore (and probably some more details).

Shadows is probably the messages around the preWarp start. Not sure how much of the details depend on the story and what are always there. Like the kaltors in the home system, for instance.

So the Shadows events aren't really events, just a bit of a guide then? I'll leave it on in that case.
