just a question

Post by stelleboi »

After reading and tried on my own i havent found any way to rotate objects (i.e. bunkers/vechiles) in maps to make it more realistic. Anyone who knows how i should rotate them? Any help would be great

With vehicles its easy: click (left) on the vehicle, and then right-click in the direction you want it to face. The same is true for bunkers, but it can only be done during deployment...so if you're playing a scenario bunkers cannot be moved (unless you open the scenario in the editor, but I don't think that's what you're asking about).

Have you looked at Finnish oob? It has turreted bunkers, in a way. Essentially an immobile tank with thick hull armour to represent a dug-in tank/tank turret.

I recall someone (Don Doom or Warhorse) had posted something about a turreted bunker they had created; great to hear they will be worked into the OOBs. I didn't know there was one already in the game. Question: if the bunker you mentioned is actually classified as an immobilized tank, wouldn't its crew tend to bail out alot sooner (at a lower suppression level) than the crew of a true bunker?

Almost forgot: are these 'next OOBs' v7.x or H2H (or both)?

Yes, the dug-in FT-17s are nice in the early parts of the war, but with their 35mm cannon or mg, they're of limitted use later in the war. Plus variety is the spice of life, or warfare, in this case. :D

Tracer,

OOBs I'm talking about are for 7.1, and I THINK should receive the "official stamp" by Matrix staff ;)

The new turreted bunker should be of a fort class, IIRC.

You're in touch with Harry Zahn: ask it to him, too, he knows it for sure :)

I'm glad to hear they should appear as true 'forts', otherwise you'd be giving up some resilience to get the greater firing arc. But then again, that might not be a bad idea: it would allow the player/designer to choose the proper unit for different situations.

I'll check with Harry to see if he has news about this. Thanks again for the info.

There are what appear to be turreted bunkers in MCNA, at least the battle I am currently engaged in, where you are surrounded at Tobruk and relief force comes in from the West. I have never seen these icons anywhere else in SP. I will look tonight and see if I can pick any details out on them. IIRC they had 25 pdrs, 2 pdrs and Vickers Mgs inside.

There's also the 'tank turret' type available later on. Armed with a 45mm gun and a mg.

Btw, those FT-17 'bunkers' are available only during winter war as back then those obsolete tanks were indeed dug in as pillboxes. Then during 43-44 when the 'Salpa' (Latch) defense line was being built a number of obsolete BT tank turrets were installed in this line. Often just into timber reinforced holes in the ground. Some of those are still in place. Closest ones that I know are about 15km away from where I live...although the closest Salpa line bunker is 200m away :)

However, if the new oob set has turreted bunkers I think this is the way to do them...clas them as tanks, give then 0 mobility and heavy enough armour. Also increase the crew. I doubt that the 'fort' class can cope with moving turrets, otherwise we'd have them already. Just my guess though.
