Saving Donghae-New Scenario for Beta Testing

Post by AdmiralSteve »

A massive typhon has struck South Korea. The JMSDF has two surface vessels that are escorting three Japanese merchant ships with relief supplies to the South Korean port of Donghae. North Korea has begun a blockade of the port and has taken an offensive posture. Several surface and sub-surface vessels are positioned east of the port while several wings have been readied at two DPRK air bases. Soviet era long range anti-ship missile batteries are believed to be well within range of the port and are of the up-most concern to the JMSDF.

South Korea which has seen its military nearly wiped out by the typhoon and subsequent flooding, has limited numbers of aircraft to provide CAS and AAW capabilities. ROK naval forces are essentially non-existent. Tokyo has also authorized units from the JASDF to assist in providing AAW as well as ground attack aircraft.

This scenario is played only from the Japanese side and has a 12 hour time limit.

Praise, criticism and shellackings are always welcomed.

A couple of observations

I like the storyline.

I think it's Misawa.

I think each merchant ship en route to Donghae needs it's own "non-repeatable" event, I ended in Triumph with 54143 points. I don't think this was intended.

The DPRK subs seemed to have their radars on, along with the surface ships, making them easily found.

I never ran in to Group185, the 5 Sang-Os, Not sure if their trigger fired.

Sadly I loaded it editor mode before I copied the Losses/Exp

I enjoyed it overall!

Thanks. It's a bit different but realistic.

I think it's Misawa.
Ugh. Thanks again.

[&:]I'll have to figure that out. I ran a test and as long as the ship remains in the area the points tally so I'll try your suggestion.
The DPRK subs seemed to have their radars on, along with the surface ships, making them easily found.
I'll leave that for now. The DPRK is at a severe EW disadvantage (thus the MiG-25R which they do not have)so I'll change a few of the ships to be passive.

I never ran in to Group185, the 5 Sang-Os, Not sure if their trigger fired.
They might have been too slow so I'll move them closer to the port.

Sadly I loaded it editor mode before I copied the Losses/Exp
I never lost more than a few A/C or one of the surface vessels. I was more concerned over the events firing correctly which for the most part they did. That scoring though is a big issue.

I enjoyed it overall!
Thanks you once again for playing it and your input.

Fixed. Each merchant has it's own separate non-repeatable event and scoring.

The DPRK subs seemed to have their radars on, along with the surface ships, making them easily found.
I've set the MiG-25R mission to have active EMCON and will be for the most part the EW unit. Most of the surface and sub-surface vessels are now passive. Some will still be active.

I never ran in to Group185, the 5 Sang-Os, Not sure if their trigger fired.
I can't get the event to work correctly so I've removed it and set the group to a random patrol. I've also moved them a bit closer to the port.
