Question about Ancient Guardians

Post by ArrowRL201 »

How the hell do I interact with them? I understand they're isolationists, but do they really do nothing aside from sit around and warn you about the Shakturi? I imagine I'm missing something here...

Also, since when do the Shakturi start as "Extremely Friendly", "Extremely Reliable", etc. I imagine it's some sort of an attempt to lull the galaxy into a false sense of security, but how the hell do I deal with them?

I could totally cheat and blow them up with the Galaxy Editor, but I'd rather not =P

You wait. Eventually theres an event where the Ancient Guardians reveal the Shakturi and ask you to band together to declare war on them.

I suppose the inverse can happen if you're friendly enough with the Shakturi?

With the Shakturi it's more like "let's band together and kill everyone else," rather than "let's band together and kill the Ancient Guardians." Plus, from a lore perspective, banding together with the Shakturi is more like serving an evil being in the hopes of postponing the day that it decides you should die rather than an equal-partners kind of deal (this doesn't really affect the way the game plays it, and in part it's an assumption based on that the Shakturi enslave insectoids and exterminate everyone else on their colonies).

I've tried that but there doesn't seem to be a similar trigger with the Shakturi. You can reject the Guardians and remain friendly with the Shakturi but there is no opposite invite trigger where they invite you into an evil alliance sadly and you betray each at the end like all good Sith insect lords do.

Btw has anyone ever checked out the stats of the Guardians homeworld? They are insane. Ever since Civ 5 I have fallen in love with the one city challenge and wish there was a better way to incorporate that into the game so you get that of single developed homeworld.

Sometimes they don't appear for whatever reason, but in that case another race steps up to the plate.

I've personally had the Quameno and Zenox give me the warning before.

The main function of the guardians is to double your GDP when you conquer their home world LOL. I've never had the Shakturi appear even with story line enabled, but then again all my games have reached victory before year 20...

Since I play sandbox with story events on, I do get to see them...

You're games just end too soon. You have to have quite a bit of research done before your can trigger them.
