Big test starting this Thursday

World Cup v WITP:AE?

That will separate the real game players from those of us who merely dabble [:)]

World Cup is off-map, so WITP:AE wins.

For many of the Americans - World Cup?

ZZZZZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My ESPN consumption will be down until the soccer is over.

And then Americans can forget about it for four more years.

At a week long gaming convention, what do I bring? My home desktop and both monitors. Why? To keep playing WitP:AE turns!

When you get dressed in the morning and you have put on starched khaki pants and shirt. Thinking you match very well.

Then you realize you work for a modern day financial institution and you're not the 40's/50's military.

oh my.

When you leave your machine on at home, then build a tunnel to play AE from your work machine without using company hardware...

I'm pleasantly surprised to see Airline 7 on your desktop, icepharmy. Glad to know I'm not the only one who has that one! (Not sure of my version, though; it's on the other computer.)

While organising my next business trip to Singapore, looking at the dates and working out if it will be Allied or Japanese controlled.

icepharmy, I have seven of the same games as you - the Paradox games, RTW and WiTE, although I don't have RTW loaded any more.

Cheers,

I wish though its interface would be as pleasant as airlinesim.aero or airwaysim.com. Those online sims are getting better in offering features but you need to constantly log on to keep afloat as its realtime online gaming. Of course the best ever airlinesim was airbucks :) Airline 7 is OK, but I am still waiting for a non-online real thing with a decent GUI - this might be it (o it might be the next let-down): http://www.theairlineproject.com/

RTW was fun to play online, but I actually play Shogun 2 now on steam, the graphics and unit behavior is much improved. If Colombia and France win tonight I might buy RTW 2 from my wagers

Agree that Airbucks was a good sim. The problem with Airline is that it seems to be as biased against the player as Sim City (and while it isn't really, it seems as complex as AE sometimes!).

When you know you've read the kids bedtime story a little bit faster than normal as you know you've got a turn in your in box.

Well, it could be worse. You could be sitting with the kid in front of the computer telling him the story of WITPAE turn 345...

I hope that poor child is an infant. You're gonna give him/her psychological trauma... hello CPS!!![:D]

Wrong way to go about it. You are supposed to marry a woman who makes enough money to support you and your AE habit. Even getting you a top end Laptop to play AE on while she takes you to Maui.

I keep working on it, but can't find any takers. Yeh, and I got my own top end laptop... Alienware with most of the bells and whistles.[:D]

You know when... you’ve plotted your orders, doublechecked your bomber altitudes, range and Air HQ torp supply. The enemy fleet is sailing right where you wanted it to. Your fighters are set to escort and match altitude. You click End Turn and email your opponent, wondering how soon he will get to it and you can see your glorious combat replay. Driving back to work you imagine combat texts like ** FUEL STORAGE EXPLOSION ** as your bombers sink his CV's one after the other. Oh wait, he said he'd be out of town this weekend, ahh! can you endure the wait till Monday evening to see the replay? What if you didn't set the fighters to Escort 0 but left them on CAP? Your bombers could be massacred? What if...
