Quality Control Bug Artillery

Post by WarHunter »

fun fact it is correct. [:)]

If you use an ART unit’s combat factors to bombard, its factors are not reduced to ‘1’ due to it being the only land unit in the hex. ART units that bombard across all-sea, river, canal, fortification or straits hexsides do not halve or third their factors.

I wonder whether this is an issue because no other units were attacking, and the unit is not bombarding (acting as ground support). I do not think planes can attack on their own and the rules state:

An artillery unit bombards an adjacent hex as if its printed combat factor were an aircraft’s tactical factor.

I suppose the defending hex is a marsh?

can´t see a bug here. maybe I did not understand you

it should not be reduced doing bombardment
ART units that bombard across all-sea, river, canal, fortification or straits hexsides do not halve or third their factors.

bombarding units are not effected by river, canals etc..
The German Artillery is alone in the hex. Attacking the Soviet unit across a river in Winter.

that likes correct. it have 0,5 factors as it should

Or... read the rule:
All other towed and motorised artillery unit have only a combat factor (before modification) of ‘1’ unless stacked with a land unit other than an artillery or notional unit (exceptions: anti-aircraft fire by AA units and bombardment by field artillery).

Everyone can miss a rule exception, there are many to miss. However, the sardonic intros to the observation - we can do without.

Edited out the bitter sardonic comment.
This is now a post which reinforces the accuracy of the artillery rules as written.

Thanks for the comment Paul.
My vocabulary has grown because of your observation.
