I have to say that after my initial attempts....

Post by Gilmer »

to play this game, I was underwhelmed, but today I have progressed a lot further into the game and am enjoying it a lot more now.

I'm playing Slukens right now and I have to say the creepy factor of them incorporating limbs from other species into their bodies is pretty high. I pretty much have to exterminate people I conquer and that means "Consumption" and use of body parts to "enhance" my people.

I had to laugh at the Hakkonish. I declared war on them and they said, "You declare war on US?" Then something about beating us severely. Well, they did not beat me. I took a colony away from them that was encroaching on what I consider my space, even though it is not on my influence bubble. After I took it, I asked them for peace and they replied they would not accept until one of us was defeated. Ok.... a few months later they asked for peace. Nothing had happened between the time. I figured if they have tails, it was between their legs.

I feel bad about exterminating peaceful people but they have stuff I need! The Securans keep giving me money. I will feel bad even as I'm consuming them.

Good to hear [:)]

You may find that you enjoy the game even more as you come to better understand it. For many players, dissatisfaction seems linked to confusion about mechanics or interface. The initial hurdle can be off-putting to some.

Anyway, carry on [8D]. Don't forget to keep upgrading your hyper drives :).

Also a newbie here. I've found the key to this game for me is knowing, as you progress, what to micromanage, and when hand it over the AI. You can do everything in pre-warp times if you want, but after that it very quickly becomes unworkable.

I put the game away twice after I brought it because it was too overwhelming. But the third time, I watched a lot of youtube videos and all of a sudden everything just started to make sense. Now I can't stop playing it. The best advice is to not give up because once it clicks for you, you won't play anything else for a long time.
