Allied air support

Post by R 10 »

In case you missed it, an Army POW interrogation report from the Normandy campaign was recently released. POW was a staff officer with the 17th PzGD.

It is worth reading just for the history.

Why this is immediately relevant to CC PitF and GTC is the detailed description of the incessant 'Jabo' attacks. These fighter bombers really ate these guys up.

The POW describes attacks coming 15 minutes apart with multiple fighter bombers. Since the CC games can run 45 minutes or more, why are the Allies limited to only one attack per game? This is clearly not what happened, and the air attacks were not trivial.

Few if any have ever requested two or more airstrikes as a feature by my recollection. Probably part of the reason is that they can be quite devastating to players on the receiving end. One airstrike, once in a while, feels a bit more balanced. Agree that Allied air superiority took a toll.

We would all enjoy a link to your reference if you get the chance.

Cathartes,

Tried several times to include the link. The site keeps rejecting it with the admonition that, "You are not allowed to post links for 7 days from the date of your tenth post."

As you can see from the info above, I have only made 5 posts, so this new math is very confusing.

I will try and get the document for you and the other members to read, and then hopefully we can discuss this subject in more detail.

Let's see if this works. The report was part of a Business Insider story.

Please Goggle "never-before-seen-document-reveals-nazi-soldiers-struggle-2014-7/#.U8HkpiIo-Uk" and it should come up for you.
