Third Battle of Yeonpyeong: Beta for testing.

Post by AdmiralSteve »

A scenario based on true events of the contested ROK island as played by South Korea.
Thanks again for playing.

Fun little scenario. I played twice, got beaten the first time when civilian losses got too high, and then had a triumph.

Tactics that worked (don't read if you don't want spoilers)...

* Used the F-5s and a couple of anti-ship missiles to take out various North Korean patrol boats; then used the F-5s to help the Golden Eagles take out MiGs
* Used the RF-4s to figure out where the North Korean artillery was
* Used the one ship with torpedoes to take out the North Korean submarine
* Used the F-4s and the F-15Ks to take out as much of the artillery as I could...this slowed the bombardment to the point where I could move the Dokdo to Yeonpyeong (which ended up at 2.5% damaged) and complete the mission.
* Lost two Sea Dolphins in a vain attempt to rush the artillery; this did result in the artillery shooting at the Sea Dolphins (and probably wasting some ammo on fast-moving targets) rather than at the civilians, but the benefit was probably very small and probably not worth the loss of the two boats

Nice job overall. Please write more scenarios!

Great scenario - tough but do-able

Got a Triumph 31 points. The artillery is resilient as hell, I too lost a couple of Sea Dolphins in a run in to a shore bombardment that didn't happen. Yeonpyeong is at 4.8% damage.

Nice one

Thanks for the feedback. I think I'm at the point where hidden units on the red side (such as the artillery) is a must for the scenarios that I've designed. I think that it makes the game more of a challenge and who really wants to win a game every time anyway?
