Anchorage is important for VP considerations and a fair port and airfield, but IMO the key to the north is Prince Rupert, because of the rail link and shipyard.
Canada can only provide a couple of brigades to send to PR, but it will need tanks, AA and most of all aircraft to defend it.
Unless you have a house rule against it, permanently restricted US fighter groups doing training could be moved to PR via rail. You do need to develop the airfield at PR to
hold decent numbers of aircraft. Send engineers and even some of the BFs located on each of the Canadian bases to help build rapidly and support the planes.
Edit: P.S. don't forget to protect the inland bases on the Canadian rail link to PR against paratroop landings.

Here is the newsreel I shared this weekend with my opponent, currently in turn 64, and Nouma is lost, the Japanese KB is lurking around Caledonia, and he is island hopping towards Kodiak.
main issue for me is the air replacement, the number of replacement aircraft is just not enough to sustain long battles. I am creating a triangle at suva, the aim is to have2 level 3 airfields and suva at level 7 (now 6). this can increase the air defense and is harder to knock out by his KB.

Operation HUSKY
Operation HUSKY was launched in defense of the ALASKA and CANADA areas.
Planes and troops poured into Anchorage and Kodiak in its defense.
As a result allied command is ecstatic to report the first sinking of a carrier in the war.
The CVL ZUIHO was bombed heavily by dive bombers, operating from KODIAK, setting it ablaze and sinking the carrier within hours after the strikes.
All planes and pilots are believed to have perished along with the ship.
The sea around KODIAK was littered with sushi meals for days after the sinking of the carrier.
Burn baby burn was heard over the radio, after the dive bombers hit the carrier.
OPERATION HEDGEHOG
The Goal of operation Hedgehog was to counter attack on the Philippines LUZON area, forcing the Japanese empire to commit more forces and resources to the Luzon area..
Operation Hedgehog started with initial successes, driving back the Japanese forces, and recapturing bases to the north of Luzon.
Armored units were key in providing the needed force to drive back the japs, and even destroy a full Japanese regiment
After the initial successes, the Japanese reacted with additional landings, sending in extra troops, including the 20th Ind. Engineer Regiment and the feared 38th Division, known for its brutality and war crimes after the fall of Hong Kong.
It is rumored that these this division was planned to serve in the south pacific in the FIJI area, but has been redirected to deal with the Japanese losses and set backs on LUZON.
Currently the advance in the south of Luzon has been halted by the Japanese, but some pockets of pressured Japanese troops exist. Allied command on Luzon is determined to do as much damage to the Japanese forces as possible, if not destroy some pockets of Japanese units.
Allied command never expected to be in fighting condition in February 1942, after the brutal surprise attack on dec 7th 1941.
Luzon has become a symbol of resistance and endurance, carrying the allied cause to new morale high.
Operation EASTER EGGS
The operation was started to mine several Japanese ports with mines, to inflict damage on shipping.
The result of the operation is unknown, as it is very difficult to monitor explosions so far from allied bases
Allied forces presume the operation a success.
The sailor who said he volunteered for a suicide mission, has never been seen again, and is presumed KIA, when his AM got bombed in the area of Johnston island. The female reporter interviewing the sailor before leaving has stated she is expecting his child .
The navy refuses to comment on the mission and its purpose.

Operation Panda was started with the goal to expel the imperial Japanese forces from the cities of Sinyang and Ichang and to test their resolve on the Chinese battle ground.
After the initial successes of operation Panda, the Chinese high command set new goals for a phase 2 in operation PANDA to capitalize on the recent gains.
The progress so far has been slow, with high losses in the southern part of china. Supply and terrain are major issues in the offensive operations.
However the cities cities of Sinyang and Ichang remain under firm Chinese control.

The navy is holding memorial services for the sailors who died in the battle for FIJI, and confirmed that the rumors of 3 Battleships where sunk during that battle by Japanese dive and torpedo bombers.
None of the sailors on board the Oklahoma, Nevada and the Arizona have been rescued, and all are presumed KIA.
Over 3500 troops defending the bases at NOUMA have been KIA or MIA. The overwhelming naval power of the Japanese navy secured a victory for JAPAN in this theatre.
The FIJI area however remain under allied control, after heavy naval battles, including the KB carrier force of the Japanese Navy.
The recent buildup of air power and ground forces fended of the Japanese navy and any invasion plans for Suva for now.
However further expansion of the airpower and troops is needed to secure SUVA for the allied cause.
The situation remains difficult around the FIJI area, but allied command states that the defense of FIJI will continue.

The Burma Area has seen much areal and ground fighting around Rangoon.
Allied forces are defending PEGU, fighting the infamous Imperial Guard infantry Division.
Supplies and troops are arriving at Rangoon, and fighter action has died down, after Japanese losses mounted.
Japanese fighters now target less defended areas, and avoid direct air to air combat against the Rangoon fighter sqdn’s.
Another indication that the imperial pilots can be defeated in aerial combat, if the planes and tactics are available to do so.

The mercenary Geisha in the tokyo strip club The Spicy Nippon continues to give valuable information to high command.
After initial reports PH was a prime target for invasion, it triggered a frantic response from the navy in reinforcing the islands and expanding the airpower on PH.
However due to the information from the Spicy Nippon, the geisha extracted valuable information during a “session” with admiral Nagumo, resulting in the clear view on Japanese victory plans.
This information has led to expansion of operation HUSKY, including now the securing of Prince Ruport base, and surrounding area.
Fighters, bombers and land forces have been coming in to defend the strategic location.
In addition it is announced that the first shiploads of war supplies and fuel have been delivered to Australia.
Over 150.000 fuel and more than 200.000 of supplies have been dropped off to the beleaguered island. A target of 100.000 fuel and 150.000 supplies have been set by allied command to be delivered each month to Australia.
Fuel from DEI are also still making it to Australia, helping to sustain naval operations in the Australian area.
3 NEW BATTLESHIPS been delivered to allied command. The BB New Mexico, Mississippi and the Idaho have been delivered in service by the shipyards. All 3 ships are form the New Mexico Class.

Obviously, Japan is shooting for auto victory...
You may want to check your Soviet defenses. If I was being this aggressive and shooting for Canada, NZ, nothing would stop me for going for Vladivostok and russian vp. Vlad is worth a lot of points, plus the troops are there already doing nothing, and you can pocket the Russians. Safeguard what you can.

Theatre of war : NZL & FIJI area
The Japanese forces invaded NZL, landing troops on the south and north islands of NZL. A huge mobilization of ANZAC forces is now in progress, young men in NZL and Australia are signing up to defend their homeland against the imperial aggression.
The Allied command confirmed it started to supply NZL weeks before the invasion, and that supplies and fuel should be available for the fighting forces.
The first carrier battle of the war erupted when the Yorktown and the Saratoga entered NZL waters south of Wellington, in support of troop landings at Auckland and in persuit of a suspected enemy tanker foce in the area.
The Task Force under Admiral Bull Halsey discovered a carrier force north of Wellington, and got the brunt of the first air assault of the battle.
The Yorktown suffered hits, but remained operational and together with the Saratoga, launched a strike at the enemy task force, and surprised the enemy fleet in the afternoon.
The 3 carrier sin the enemy task force the carriers CVE Hosho, CVL Shoho and CVL Zuiho were all hit and left ablaze, with heavy smoke on the first strike.
A second Japanese strike damaged the Yorktown with a bomb hit on the flightdeck, but somehow the crew of the carrier managed to stay operational and together with the Yorktown launched a second strike against the enemy fleet. This strike damaged the Shoho and Hosho, and pilots reported to have seen the Zuiho sinking.
It is believed all 3 Japanese carriers are sunk, but confirmation on the wreckage is needed for confirmation, this is being hindered by the fierce fighting at Auckland and Christenchurch.
Rumors are that the dive bombers on the carriers did not participate in the strikes, due to sabotage by Japanese spy’s onboard the carrier task force, giving unclear orders, the spy has been identified and shot. Crew members reacted surprised “John always liked sushi and he had a calendar of naked Geishas in his bunk, that is true, but I never thought he was a Nippon” was one quote..
Allied command reacted swiftly to the Japanese landings, by redirecting troops en route to Australia to NZL, sometimes landing them directly into combat.
The QE carrying the 161st Infantry Regiment into combat at Christ church has been hit by multiple bombs, but is making her way back to allied ports and shipyards.
In addition the 754th Tank regiment landed in Auckland with the 3rd landing fleet, covered by offensive carrier operations, the fleet suffered minor ship losses, and delivered all of her troops and cargo.
2 base forces also made it to NZL, and are supporting the air operations, but often fight side by side with the infantry to defend the vital bases.

The carrier was given a lucky penny, build in her flight deck for luck, the penny was placed by Rita Hayworth.
Allied command is announcing the invasion of MALAYA, in an effort to liberate the country from Japanese occupation and to lift the siege of Singapore.
Troops landed on the shores of George Town, and are fighting to get a foothold beyond the landing beaches.
Landings are being supported by battleships and carriers, and are the first offensive landings of the war by the allies.
As a result a new Theatre of war has been opened

The Japanese forces invaded NZL, landing troops on the south and north islands of NZL. A huge mobilization of ANZAC forces is now in progress, young men in NZL and Australia are signing up to defend their homeland against the imperial aggression.
The Allied command confirmed it started to supply NZL weeks before the invasion, and that supplies and fuel should be available for the fighting forces.
The first carrier battle of the war erupted when the Yorktown and the Saratoga entered NZL waters south of Wellington, in support of troop landings at Auckland and in persuit of a suspected enemy tanker foce in the area.
The Task Force under Admiral Bull Halsey discovered a carrier force north of Wellington, and got the brunt of the first air assault of the battle.
The Yorktown suffered hits, but remained operational and together with the Saratoga, launched a strike at the enemy task force, and surprised the enemy fleet in the afternoon.
The 3 carrier sin the enemy task force the carriers CVE Hosho, CVL Shoho and CVL Zuiho were all hit and left ablaze, with heavy smoke on the first strike.
A second Japanese strike damaged the Yorktown with a bomb hit on the flightdeck, but somehow the crew of the carrier managed to stay operational and together with the Yorktown launched a second strike against the enemy fleet. This strike damaged the Shoho and Hosho, and pilots reported to have seen the Zuiho sinking.
It is believed all 3 Japanese carriers are sunk, but confirmation on the wreckage is needed for confirmation, this is being hindered by the fierce fighting at Auckland and Christenchurch.
Rumors are that the dive bombers on the carriers did not participate in the strikes, due to sabotage by Japanese spy’s onboard the carrier task force, giving unclear orders, the spy has been identified and shot. Crew members reacted surprised “John always liked sushi and he had a calendar of naked Geishas in his bunk, that is true, but I never thought he was a Nippon” was one quote..
Allied command reacted swiftly to the Japanese landings, by redirecting troops en route to Australia to NZL, sometimes landing them directly into combat.
The QE carrying the 161st Infantry Regiment into combat at Christ church has been hit by multiple bombs, but is making her way back to allied ports and shipyards.

What I would have taken for an odd/poor TF composition for IJN may have paid dividends by absorbing much damage into 2ndary units!! Ironic.
