Where in the world is the next battle ground?

The new Cold War turned hot wargame from On Target Simulations, now expanded with the Player's Edition! Choose the NATO or Soviet forces in one of many scenarios or two linked campaigns. No effort was spared to model modern warfare realistically, including armor, infantry, helicopters, air support, artillery, electronic warfare, chemical and nuclear weapons. An innovative new asynchronous turn order means that OODA loops and various effects on C3 are accurately modeled as never before.

South Africa 2010+, there's a wealth of untapped resources there that all the major nations want a piece of or South Africa with its home-grown defence industry making moves to secure its borders from incursions by NATO/Russian equipped neighbouring countries. Fairly low intensity but fast paced battles.

Or having the cold war heat up with NATO moving to secure the eastern states that have 'broken' away after the fall of the Warsaw Pack, Russia is angered by this and moves to reclaim those states.

Of course, "battle ground" is ambiguous--I'm guessing we're meaning "next full-on conventional type conflict," as pretty much every square inch of the friggin' globe is already drenched in blood from one type of conflict or another....

I went with Russia to cover Eastern Europe as well. Not that I think it's likely, but I think it's slightly more likely than China and its neighbors mixing it up (and that would be more naval/air I think, while a Russia scenario would be more friendly to a land game).

Well 'where' depends on the answer to 'when', I think, so it will be hard to get anything meaningful out of this poll, perhaps (though it's harmless fun, so ok...). I ticked Russia because I want a WW2 EF iteration, but if it's to be a sci-fi romp then I think it hardly matters where. If it's to be the arab-israeli war, otoh, then I guess South America might be the best place to set it......etc...[;)]

North Africa & the Middle East seem the best choice to me.

While, I can see having naval bombardment off map supplied to those of you nearest the beach, I don't really see us doing a naval war with this game system. [:D]

A real naval war is a total different ballgame, but looking from above, with a open Arctic see and 24 hours of light within the summer period. not only naval bombardment but also naval invasions. Give a lot to tell.

This moment the game system works great for total land base war.

Witch expansions of the game system are possible and imposable within a reasonable time-frame?

I'd like to see all the NATO/WP nations covered before it moves on...

I picked the far east. I would like to see belligerents we don't normally see in these types of games. Would love to play as and against Chinese military. Korean vs. Korean battles, Taiwan vs. China, Vietnam vs. China etc. Something different with new TO&Es.

Well, a game set on the DMZ in Korea might work well--some serious forces arrayed there.

I'm a massive fan of late 80s Cold War gone hot and would love to see Denmark and the Baltic, through to the Arctic Circle (effectively AFNORTH) covered. There's plenty of scope for representation of interesting units like Danish, Swedish, Norwegian, Polish, Soviet Naval Infantry, Royal Marines, even Finnish etc. Following 'Southern Storm' I'd like to see this theatre covered before leaving the Cold War behind. Failing that, contemporary (c.2000 onwards) scenarios in Eurasia or the 1967/73 Arab Israeli conflicts are of interest, providing scope for Blitzkrieg-style combined arms warfare, think Sinai, Chinese Farm, Golan Heights. Korea in the 1980s or 90s, before North Korean equipment became so out of date as to be irrelevant, also holds potential. Just my two cents worth.

I agree with The Plodder and Panzer_Leader on the need to cover the northern NATO front. I made a small winSPMBT Campaign on a Polish invasion of Denmark in the mid 80's and I'd like to reproduce that in this game engine. Obviously this one would be on a larger scale.

Southern Europe in Cold War era, I would like to see Swiss and Italian Armies in action. Middle East from 1948 to 2020. Why,in the poll there isn't the choice for Middle East? [&:]

I find strange dont see middle east in the list... maybe here we are talking more about a "what if" title over a historical one.

If is not a Middle east... maybe a far east title... Dragon Rise serie, China invading Taiwan, Japan and helping "beloved leader" to unify Korea [:D]

But my first choice is middle east.

PD: if we talk about Europe... i prefer see north or south BUT with the use of "NATO minors expeditionary forces" as bonus.

Hey I was vote 54.... my lucky number

Anyway I picked North Africa because I'm assuming again that we are post Southern Storm and 2.1. I really hope to finish '80's Europe before moving on.

with that said...go where the 'money is; I'm 'in' whatever you guys decide.
