Campaign OOB - Truck strength for Infantry

Post by PAWMatrix »

Hello,

I just installed v2.1, it is awesome.

Now I just fired up a Campaign game, Germany vs. Russia.

I picked a Motorized Infantry Battalion. I have a pic I can show if need be.

I have 3 units that are Mot. Schutzen 41 Infantry (6 Strength) x 3 in the Battalion, and the 3 units that are
supposed to carry them are only 3 in Strength. Is this an error?

I thought you need 6 strength truck or halftrack to carry.

I also fired up Russians also, and that had the same problem.

All the artillery and other units, the strengths matched one for one.

There was not a single truck of 6 strength to carry infantry. Again, an error in OOB?

Will add pics tomorrow to show.

No. No error. 1 truck SP can carry 2 infantry SP, so you need only 3 trucks to carry a 6 SP platoon.

Originally it was a 1-to-1 ratio. With some of the smaller countries, it may still be a 1-to-1 ration. I think with 1935 Italy, I've had the 6 SP platoon paired up with 3 SP trucks, and it didn't work. I had to go back up increase the truck SPs to 6.

1925frank is correct, that was updated in 1.03 and is the standard for OOBs going forward. The trucks cost more VP now as well, so be wary of that.

It also depends on the size of truck; whether it be light, medium or heavy. Most medium and heavy class trucks can carry 2SP per SP, while light trucks can only carry 1SP per SP.

Nice and efficient way for JTCS to handle trucks + unit transport.

But, the high VP's for transport (especially trucks) will "punish" any commander who is unwise enough to run loaded transport into the LOS/LOF of enemy units! [X(]
