2.1 Idea - Fog of War

The Good Idea Fairy has been camped out in my living room....

I don't know the specifics of TOC log reporting, but there is a lot of info in there. Next time I do the US Campaign (just finished my second iteration), I am going to use a notepad and play S2. I am assuming unit IDs in the log are accurate.

The idea I have is to introduce accuracy of ID be a function of the HQ staff lowest in chain of command. So, percentage of surviving HQ units, morale, and readiness having an effect in correctly identifying the enemy unit.

In a real TOC or TAC CP, the S2 shop will identify major units and have an OB, along with templates. Plts are reporting numbers, types, and locations of vehicles seen or killed. The S2 takes that data and processes it to yield info on enemy units.

So, as the HQ degrades, the accuracy of enemy unit IDs degrade. No HQ staff gives you "engaging unidentified tank unit"

There are a number of FoW tweaks in 2.04. See if it better. We have a number of additional features and adjustments in the 2.1 plan too.

While looking at FOW are you considering a desginers FOW where it allows the designer to see all units but the tactical AI sees as per selected/normal FOW settings

Tazak, it basically does that now when both sides are displayed. It's not 100%to the unspotted setting but it is very close. It is one area we will be looking at for improvements and new features for 2.1.

I am new and on training now [;)]

And the FoW is now ON or OFF.

Can there more differentiation, like:
ON (current)
Partial ON (only a empty unit counter and no stacking)
OFF (current)
Complete OFF (all the information displayed on the counter)

This give a better view and training when and how to spot and tactics of the opponent.
