The name doesnt exactly fit the description on the bottle ;]

RE: Return of the Sheep!
Tonight's brew: homebrew ginger IPA. It wasn't supposed to be an IPA, but that's what I ended up with.

RE: Return of the Sheep!
I drank beer for decades until I didnt drink beer anymore. It has been a while. So, no beer reports for me.
However, I am smoking a beautiful strain of Platinum Trainwreck drizzled with Acapulco Gold oil thanks to the Arizona Medical Marijuana program. It even comes in RX bags.
The only side effect is that sometimes I forget my... Wait, what? Oh look a kitty.... ;]

______________________________________________________________________________
Been about 15 turns since I did a proper update. Action is limited to China and SOPAC while Tom starts clearing all the smaller bases in the DEI.
------------------------
DEI
------------------------
I decided to make a stand at Batavia with about half the Dutch army. The other half will defend Madioen. Its a x3 terrain hex and no coast. Soerebaja will only be lightly held.
------------------------
Philippines
------------------------
We continue to hold at Clark and Manila. On Mindanao Tom has actually stalled for now. I think he is short of supply as even bombardments have stopped.
------------------------
China
------------------------
The heavy action continues here and we are taking an absolute pounding. With the Panzer Armee moving in on Sian the entire area collapses. Retreating Chinese troops are taking horrendous losses from what can only be Tiger and Panther tanks? [&:]
On the East approach the situation is no better. With the Japanese air forces full attention most if not all of these troops will be completely combat ineffective by the time they arrive at Sian.
In the South the small roadblock has held for now. But last turn a new Japanese ID showed up and no doubt will break through next turn with x3 the raw AV.
To my amazement no more deliberate attacks have been made at the Ankang approaches. Instead he seems to be shifting some troops.
------------------------
SOPAC/OZ
------------------------
After sitting outside the coast for 3 turns the KB suddenly strikes the industry at Newcastle. For now I can´t really do anything about it. I have 3 subs in the area. Another 5 are en route. I´ll continue to hunker down at Brisbane and Sydney. A BB TF is sitting just East of Bundaberg. It has been reported as BBs + CLs. But this turn some was reported as AKs and LSDs. Not sure why he is just sitting there but it looks like an invasion is coming.
If it is I will only defend Sydney and Melbourne. Supply is plentiful. Sydney has 1000 AV and Melbourne 750. Forts are 3+. I can´t really do anything besides that.
Pago Pago receive more troops. AV is up to 450 and forts will hit 3 in a couple of days. First fighters arrive here although pilots are rubbish.
------------------------
India/Burma
------------------------
Not much to report. We continue to hold Rangoon. A lone Japanese unit has moved up to Toungoo which is lightly held. 6th OZ ID has arrived at Colombo. I will most likely send them to OZ as any India operation looks more and more unlikely.
Screens are coming up later today.

Drop the VP the JFB can get out of China.ORIGINAL: JocMeister
ORIGINAL: BBfanboy
IRL I'm sure the Chinese got food and clothing supply from their own people in the area - say 200 miles.
I'm also sure they dug tank traps and felled trees to interfere with tanks, so the armour steamroller was not quite so effective. Not sure if the AI reduces the effective AV of tanks when
in +2 and +3 terrain.
In other words, I agree that the current settings make things too easy for Japan.
Not complaining though. I knew what I was getting into and I knew for certain Tom would conquer China before 42 was up. If I can survive AV it will probably be a better game in the end. [:)]
The main problem is and have always been to survive AV. But the "issue" may have to be looked at from a VP perspective. With the relative ease which China can be conquered it might make AV too "easy" for an accomplished Japanese player to achieve. Only way to find out is playing numerous PBEMs and see what happens. [:)]
It was far from a vital theatre.

Not sure why Tom stopped moving. Either supply problems or he wants to give me time to enter Sian.

Tom has slowed here as well. At least for now. I think his SOPAC operations are using a lot of assets right now.

Again less Japanese progress then expected. I´ve started toying with the idea of redeploying more forces to Burma from India including the 18th British ID. But its easy to get cut off. For now I´ll hold off the idea until I know the SOPAC/OZ operations are real.

RE: Return of the Sheep!
Joc, about China:
I have faced Tom with this very same mod (DBB with SLs) and I can tell you that China CAN be successfully defended.
Take a look at my old AAR for details.
However, while Sian can be lost (but look at what Erik has done against me at Sian!!!) and Changsha basin too, the rest of China can be easily defended if you use the SLs at your advantage.
It is not true that the SLs work against the Chinese: on the contrary, the SLs favours the Chinese, cause the Japanese divisions weight lot more than a Chinese corp. If you defend in good terrains and if you keep the Umruchi oil flowing, there is no way you can lose China...at least not before 1944!
Remember to place at least 1 Corp at Thienshui... that's the Key to defend the North!!! DO IT ASAP to prevent a para-drop...[;)]

Hey, Thanks for the advice. I´ll have to read your AAR again it seems. [:)]

RE: Return of the Sheep!
Never defend on "simply" rough terrain. Only if in river crossing...but even so... sit ONLY in wd and WR terrain and build forts there. Defend the river crossing of Sian (look what Erik has done against me there!), but for the rest, leave the rough terrain alone

Good advice! [:)]
Sadly I don´t have anything to defend Sian with but shattered (or about to be shattered) units. So it will be kind of a freebie for him.

Invasion fleet about to land in OZ!
Invasion materializes!
______________________________________________________________________________
So this is it. A Japanese landing at Maryborough! Is it a full scale on or just a spoiling attack...I guess we will know if he crosses the LOD or not. If I remember correctly is just south of Brisbane?
Any estimates on how much he would need to fully conquer Western OZ? I will move the 350 AV from Brisbane to Melbourne boosting both UH hexes to 1000 AV with level 3 forts. Can he realistically do it?
