The Allies win the Initiative 4 vs 3. This is not a vital turn and so the Axis do not contest the result.
The weather is rainy in the Arctic and Nth Temperate and Fine everywhere else.

Did the Allies go first, or did they make the Axis go first?

The Allies will go first. Just more chance of reducing the number of impulses that the Axis get.

There is a school of thought that on a winter turn (especially before war in the Pacific), it is better to use the initiative to have your opponent go first in an attempt to move the marker in your direction. I know one very good player who will absolutely never choose to go first with either side until Sep/Oct 41, judging that to be the turn Russia breaks or stands.
I never thought of building the French MTN division counter. I like that idea a lot, I can think of numerous uses for it.
RE: Bob Flemin's MWIF AARse IV - Nice AArse
Many people find it advantageous to let the other side go first in winter, because, while this gives the other side more impulses in winter, it reduces the expected number of impulses they will get in spring and summer.ORIGINAL: warspite1

The Allied impulse draws to a close. Only other item of note was that the US continue their build-up of units in Hawaii, with a Fighter and Naval air being transported out. to Pearl.
For the Germans this impulse will be all about rushing units west to take out the Low Countries as quickly as possible - one at a time of course [;)]

Interesting.... the weather throw is a 1 - Fine weather everywhere. "Merde! Iz ze Bloody Global Warming" exclaims Gamelin.
If all Allies pass there is a 10% chance of the turn ending. Gamelin feels he cannot take that risk as he needs to sort out the defence just in case the Germans make a quick breakthrough in the Low Countries....

I've got to say the French look incredibly weak [&:]. The Allied turn ends and, unsurprisingly the Germans decide to declare war on the Dutch.
Reich Chancellery
Adolf Hitler: There's only two things I hate in this world. People who are intolerant of other people's cultures and the Dutch.
Hermann Goering: Mein Fuhrer, with respect, I think you will find Austin Powers has already done that line.
Adolf Hitler: Shut it fatso! I do the jokes around here.

Neville Chamberlain is asked whether he wants to align the Netherlands to the Commonwealth. The answer is of course yes and the Dutch begin to set up their meagre forces which essentially consists of one Infantry Corps defending the capital and the navy in Rotterdam.
