Resident Genius back with more information to share.

It looks like Overruns can happen from different hexes and different units. With different
totals. As long as they meet the stringent overrun rules. I just don't know what to say.

Saturday night and its an overrun all night long.
The combinations are simply breath taking.

Here is one that should make someone we all know very happy.
hint hint nudge nudge,

Remember kids. <ctrl> left click works. Only if you let it and believe real hard.

Sometimes you don't need it. (That can be a problem with computer games).
But you can never really know when those times are. (That's a bug with consistency).

But why take chances. Just use it all the time. Like Paul did.
Even when you don't need to. Just use it.

Two psychotherapists pass each other in the hallway. The first says to the second, "Ctrl-Left-Click"

The second smiles back nervously and half nods his head. When he is comfortably out of earshot, he mumbles, "God, I wonder what *that* was all about?"

I really appreciate this thread. I've been confused on the rules concerning overruns and how to conduct them in MWiF. After reading through this thread and relevant rules, downloading Zorachus99 saved game in post #2 and trying myself I now know how to:

(1) overrun two units with the same stack

(2) double units, using an offensive chit, for overrurn not once; but twice!

Thanks everyone, this has been a great "teaching" thread.

Apparently, no bug...

I like consistency.

Maybe not a bug like other bugs.

There is still an issue with overrunning.

The fact some units can be picked up and used for an overrun. With no problem.
While other units must use the "Ctrl-Left-Click", is a minefield for a new player.
700 pages of rules. A couple of sentences about "Ctrl-Left-Click".

For myself, the use of "Ctrl-Left-Click" will just become part of the routine.
Mostly because I hate to reload a save game if it can be avoided.

If its never looked at. Not up to me. I'm just a messenger.

Thanks for the non-help. There is still no way to use four offensive points.

Ctrl-Left-Click. Seems simple enough, once the rule is explained. Even a caveman can do it!

Thank you for the comic relief while the rest of us patiently wait for the other lower priority issues to be resolved.

Genius reporting as ordered.

Thank you! You actually answered my questions, posted steps. I'm in your debt. [&o]

These extremely precise directions do not work for me.

You read that right. They did not work.

There is something apparently wrong with the way I click on the units, or perhaps there is a "right way" to click the units to perform this move. I just tried 5 more times, exactly as you explained (or how I interpreted it) with absolutely no success any way I tried it. In each test, I closed the game and reloaded. After beginning the impulse, I didn't click any other unit at any time, which shouldn't matter. During the overrun I did not click any unit other than the ones performing the overrun.

It goes right back to my original post. I can double the first two units no problem, I can overrun the first stack no problem, but that is where it gets weird. When CTRL-Clicking the *first* overrun hex, the units are not placed in that hex, they stay in your hand, while the overrun unit is destroyed without any notification I might add. If I place my stack which is stuck to my mouse cursor, in the hex I completed the overrun, I can certainly double the units again. However, I can never overrun the second hex. It always shows an X whether I have Ctrl-Clicked second overrun hex or not.

You did help by showing steps, which I very carefully followed, and was unsuccessful in completing. It doesn't seem to matter if I select the units with the pop-out, or by Ctrl-Clicking the stack to pick it up, the second hex appears to be forbidden.

No, I'm not kidding.

I could post a video, but, seriously, that much work to display a bug I've had every time, is very strange. Do I have to start posting youtube videos of how the game has issues for the developer? That's quite charming, and the very opposite good public relations, but... if necessary, I could post a video of me failing to do this move 10 more times in a variety of ways that all seem to make sense, following the exact script above.

But is that what you want me to do? I am still stuck in impulse 1 of my game.

I leave it up you.

Lets see if the minimalist use of <ctrl left click> will work for you.
Just tried it twice to confirm it works for me.

My god man! Do not Ctrl-click on the first overrun, but Ctrl-Left-click only on the following hex to establish control, and then second overrun? This should be in the players manual.

I actually got it to work the second time I tried it without using the division. I don't know how this figures, but, wow. After many, many, tries, re-reading the rulebook, your explanation worked.

You should put a bit-coin donation address in your signature. You are a genius, or I'm a complete incompetent boob. Take your pick.

Thanks!
