Possible rebuilding unit bug

Post by Chris21wen »

I've finally managed to get all five elements of the 8th Aus Div altogether in the same base and same command. The Gull Bn still has CMF Inf Sec while the remaining four units have the AIF Inf Sec 42. Also one of the Bde still has Lewis AAMG and not Bren AAMG. Despite these device differences I can still rebuild the unit. Is this a bug?

Forgot to say that after rebuilding I have the correct TOE with full complement of sections and the AAMG have all turned into 40mm Bofors.

I believe I read in here somewhere that if when you recombine, the devices will upgrade if they are in the pool. Otherwise, the unit will not recombine. Someone will verify i'm sure....GP

I think I read the same, I also thought to be able to do this you still had to obey the normal rules for a normal device upgrade. E.g. the same of more squads.
I did not have this I needed 36 AIF Sections but only had 23 in the pool.

OK. The reason that I asked is that at some point there was a Beta or two where Michael tried out a different way, but that was quite a while ago.

Do you have AIF Inf Sec 42 set to stockpile? If you do that keeps the "=" for upgrade available from showing up. But, as others have indicated, the rebuild unit code might automatically upgrade the devices as needed (if enough are available in the pool), but maybe does not check the 'stockpile' flag?? That last bit is conjecture.

Yes they are stockpiled. Having told me about the "=", which I didn't know, I've stopped stockpiling and run the turn but the "=" is still not showing. All that's happened is I now have 22 in the AIF sec pool. I can still rebuild the unit with the to a full compliment AIF Inf Sec 42 (36) x288.

I've attached a save, no password it's against the AI.

Nothing wrong. Some devices upgraded during rebuild.

Thanks. I didn't think that was possible.

When trying to rebuild units from editor broken down units (like Gull, Lark), the program needs to be very flexible otherwise, these units would tend never to get rebuilt[:D].
Usually a a/b/c split needs devices to be of the same type.

Makes sense. I vaguely remember having problems previously but I think that was before we had the control we have now on upgrades.
