landbased SSMs not firing

Post by RobsenK »

Hi,

thanks Devs for building this great simulator.

I set up a scenerio with many landbased SSM units of various types.
None of them automatically fires at hostile naval surface contacts. Radars are on and target is in range.
Im able to fire them manually.

EDIT: to clarify: None of them automatically fires, when AI-controlled, at hostile naval surface contacts

What did I miss?

The AI will only do what you explicitly tell them to, or allow them to. To get your SSM batteries to fire, you need to assign them to either an ASuW strike or Patrol, a Sea Control Patrol, or change their ROE to allow them to "Engage Opportunity Targets".

Also the AI won't fire at unidentified targets, unless you set the ROE to allow them to, as stated above.

You would either need to be sure the AI had confirmed the ships were hostile or set up an exclusion zone so that any ships within area "X" are legitimate targets.
