Loctype Extra Graphic

Post by Ormand »

Vic,
I wanted to add another Loctype and use the ExtraGraphic# option to identify it on the map, keeping the underlying terrain, much as for raw or oil. It seems though that it is not possible to add a new graphic to the current list. Input is seems to be limited between -1 and 17, although when prompted it only says to enter a number. Also, you can't use 0 (-1 is none) as this gives a crash. They are stored in the modgraphics/nato directory. Is there a way around this? It would also be nice to be able to specify a graphic rather than having to add to this directory, but the problem right now is that I can't add a graphic for the Loctype at all. Of course one way around it is to use a terrain slot, but then I have to add the extra terrains for weather, etc.

Hi Ormand,

Extra graphics refer to so called 'nato graphics'.

Its probably best to create a ormandgraphics directory and copy the nato directory to there and then reference the ormandgraphics directory as the systemgraphics directory in scenario settings.

Its a bit arcane to work with nato-graphics. sorry.

You could always opt to implement them as landscapes types though.

hope this helps.

Best wishes,
Vic

Vic,
Thanks, this helps. I think two things were confusing me:
1)I was starting with the masterfile based on ATG, which has an override to use the modgraphics directory as its source rather than systemgraphics, which has an empty natocounters directory. Since I still want these4, I'll have to copy them to my scenario systemgraphics file.
2)It appears the graphics file has to be in the directory at the time of loading, otherwise it can't be found. I had added the graphics 18.png and then tried to load it while I was still editing my scenario, and got the message it must be between -1 and 17.

This is much better for my purposes rather than a landscape because I would have to make four new landscapes edit the climate stringlist and more.

Thanks again.
