I would like to see the terrain modifiers based on the depth of the effective terrain base and get away from individual trees affecting movement, LOS, ect.
Actually the way trees work with LOS that would cause a performance hit. To look through or over trees you need a ray to check if it is possible. Without tree model planes to check for a ray collision the game would have to build and check virtual trees every meter. I don't think individual trees affect movement unless they are on some kind of impassible terrain. The movement is controlled by the underlying terrain base.

I didn't know that, very interesting. I did notice some lag when the grass was on full tilt though. Didn't know it might have been the trees causing it.

Yes the grass as well as trees affect LOS.
But, you wouldn't notice anything while checking LOS from a single unit with the LOS tool. It would only slow down the turn processing where LOS are being calculated from every unit to every unit every second.

Another improvement I'd like to see is being able to move the command hq's without having to move its subordinate units in a single move. You can do it now but you have to move the hq and all its units twice.

this depends on if your switching main orders or not, if you switch main orders yea most of the time they will plot a move. You can use engage-move with an HQ and engage-hold for the subunits, if your switching to advance yea they all plot, rush the same thing. But if your staying under the same main order you can adjust the plotted movement.

I'm sure someone will be along to add to or correct things.

You have to move the HQ unit twice, not all the subunits twice. If this feature was going to be changed it would have been done by now. This probably will never be changed as it reminds the player that he is moving platoon units not single tanks/teams like in another similar scale game.

There are certain key combinations that carry the suborders to subunits. (I can never remember what they are though.) I suppose there could be a key combination that nulls the orders to the subunits. I'd rather have a way to visually see at a glance what the current orders are for all units.

Hrmmm, what is happening then? I move the individual tanks and then I move the HQ of those tanks and they setup movement again to another area from the ones they were going to when I moved them individually?

that shouldn't happen. The HQ order only propagates down to the rest of the platoon if it is a change to the Base Order. In other words, if the individual tanks of a platoon already have an Engage --> Move order with specific objectives. Giving the HQ unit an Engage Move order to another location, or any Engage Order, such as Engage --> Stay should not alter the other units in the platoon. They will keep there original Engage order.

Perhaps I am doing it backwards but I swear that's the way I've seen it happen in the past. I move my individual tanks first then move the HQ and all the tanks go in the direction of the HQ and then I have to move all those tanks again. So, basically you're saying it shouldn't happen that way?

check again, unless your not changing the main order the individual tanks would be limited by the main order's sub orders. If your moving the individual tanks or the HQ while keeping the same main order, nothing should replot their move. When you start or change the main order and plot a new move order the individual tanks will plot along side the HQ.

I'll go back and recheck I do remember something being awry though when moving the HQ after moving the individual tanks.

Plus, this got to 2nd page, how did that happen? [:'(] I know this will make someone very happy. [:D]

No. You move the HQ first. That unit should contain the leader of the platoon and thus should lead. All the subunits produce blue lines and will follow. You then can click on any or all subunits and tailor their blue lines.

Well, now that ^^ is what I have been having to do, but, how come there's not some sub command in the HQ unit that I don't have to do it that way? Why can't I move the HQ independent of the other tanks from the getgo?

The game builds the C&C into the orders system. So you have to think in terms of moving whole units, not individual game pieces as in chess and checkers. Many games see HQ units as just another playing piece with a bit more bling hung on it.

It's been a while I passed here. To me it seemed like PCO is dead and buried. Nevertheless if one little support can be used then here it is.

we certainly need two things done:
Infantry being able to exit any direction from a building (I remember asking this a lot)
Destructible buildings

I am also skeptic about PCO being able to compete against CM Red Storm. Until now PCO had the niche of being the latest tactical East Front game but not any more...

I still hold for you guys...

PC Ostfront stinks compared to APOS and CM Red Thunder. Not worth $5.Its like something released 10 years ago.I am skeptical about this thread, the OP claims it is his favourite game, yet he has not posted or started one thread here, this thread was originally in the general discussion forum for some bizarre reason.I suspect the OP is a troll.

Can those games do this?

I enjoy APOS and still play the first 3 CM games, the newer CM dont run well or at all for me so i haven't played them. Are there things that could be improved or that bug me, sure but thats the case for all the mentioned games. the simple truth for me is i have fun playing the game, warts aside. It's my opinion thats these types of games are under represented in the market, we could use more of them. The armor combat is well done and fun and thats my main point of playing games...the fun factor. It's not for you, as you've stated many times. I guess what I don't understand is you call the OP a troll but all you ever do is pop in and say the game sucks. the thread has been moved to the cellar and you pop in to say the game sucks .... I just don't get the point......o yea...the game sucks.......opinion noted.

Despite having some CTD issues (still) with the game, I would definitely like to see more of the PC series. Hopefully early France or even Africa.
