German para replacements

Piercing Fortress Europa is a new game from veteran game designer Frank Hunter, which covers the campaigns of the Western Allies from July, 1943 through the end of April, 1945 in Sicily and Italy. Each area has its own map and time scale to best represent the campaigns for Sicily and Italy and the player is offered complete freedom, limited only by a historical order of battle and logistics model, to plan his operations and explore all of the many “what ifs” that the Italian theater has to offer.

German para replacements

Post by FrankHunter »

It was mentioned that German para replacements at least once seemed to regenerate.

There are a couple of things that might have led to this situation. One, if the Allies take Rome or a hex north of Rome real early, say prior to March 1944, the German side gets a one-time release of increased replacements, including airborne.

Two, when a German para unit loses strength, a fraction of that lost strength appears in the German pool and could be added to the unit in the following turn. The reasoning there being that post-combat stragglers from high quality units like airborne could be reformed more quickly and get back in the battle. The same rule applies to other units but the fractions are smaller.

I assume one or both of the above happened and it seemed like para replacements were being automatically generated as needed.

Do allied para replacements work the same way?

I just finished a grand campaign as the allies, and I don't think I ever had any replacements for the US paras......I think the Brits were OK tho.

Yes, the Allies also get replacement points based on a fraction of eliminated points.
