Need Help

Post by Chorak »

Can't seem to get help on STEAM.

I need help with understanding army, corps, and divisions..as well as how to create GHQ's and the latter. I did the tutorial and read the manual. I guess I don't understand it at all.

I basically just combine all the units in a region together and send them forward..which is oddly working decently.

If someone can give me a rundown on the basics including the logic as well as the button pushing procedures on how to create army groups etc etc. I'd appreciate it.

Hi

you may find the AGEOD forum (here) a better source of information

Things to watch out for are the command points of a stack (a product of the allocation of officers and the existence of a GHQ), try, if you can, to keep the number of troops equal to this (a little above say 5-8% does no great harm).

Corps have a lower Command point value than an army, an army without a GHQ has a lower command point value than one with a GHQ and so on.

Thanks! Sorry I am learning and kind of just messing around. I thought it would play like hearts of iron series. It kind of does, just maybe unsure how the button pushing procedures to make these things work.

So, how do I assign an army group to a GHQ? I think that is my main problem actually. I created several army groups..that are too large and take up too many CP...and they are not assigned to GHQ's.

The manual explains how to make the GHQ on page 34:
Procedure: To form an Army Group, form a Stack
with 3 or 4 star leader plus any leaders and Units
you want to attach directly to the Army Group commander (these
can also be added later), then select the “Form Army Group” Special
Order. This will change the status of the Stack from Independent to an
Army Group. This is the command GHQ of the Army Group (hence
sometimes called GHQ for simplification), not the entire Army: an
Army Group’s fighting formations are its attached Armies.

When you create an Army it will automatically be attached to the closest GHQ. Only the Germans get two GHQ's. Other major powers get one.

click on a GHQ. Then hold down shift key. You'll see a highlighted range. You need to have a 3 star general in this highlighted range to actually create an army group. The army group must be created with a 3 star general. You can not create an army without a 3 star general.

In order to create the army group, youll need to click on that 3 star general, click on the middle special order (looks like a man saluting) then click on create hq.

Along the side of the game map you'll see your GHQ generals. They will have diamonds in them which represent the army that is attached to it. I believe a GHQ can have 8 armies attached.

So I did what is described in the above post. I needed a ghq for the western front. I'm playing the non historical campaign with the eastern focus war plans. I start with molke in the east ghq with no west ghq. I find a 3 star commanding one of the armies on the western front and I click the form ghq button and he and his whole command become the ghq.

The question I have, is this how it's done? I'm skeptical that I did this right because when I press shift on the east ghq all the armies in the east light up with flashing lights. When I press shift on the western ghq that I created, non of the armies in the west light up and flash even though they are in the command radius.

Do the armies in the west have little diamonds on their tabs?

Did you then create armies after making the GHQ in the west?

The west ghq was after the armies in the west. Good point about the diamonds in the tabs. I'll check that.

So youll need to remove each one as an army, then make each one an army again. They will then attach to the west GHQ as it's close.

just remember, don't remove their army status unless they are in command range so you can add each one right back!
