Eastern Front Map Available for Download - Southern Stalingrad
Hi all. Here is the 50km x 50km map of Southern Stalingrad and it's suburbs. It is a trace of a Soviet Army map.

PS I am working on a scenario for this and should have it ready by the end of the month.

RE: Eastern Front Map Available for Download - Southern Stalingrad
Hi CapHillrat,
Thank you for doing this! I had HTTR and Bulge modules for a while and never though that with the latest build (279) we can now design WW2 scenarios in general. I don't know when this feature became available. Anyways, I have downloaded your South Stalingrad map - both files. However when I tried to import the map into the MapMaker the editor crashed. So I have deleted the cache file and then tried again loading the *.cop file and this worked well. I'm not an expert on Command Ops editing so I have no idea ff the *.cache file is required or not.
I'm a huge fan of Stalingrad battle, have a numerous books on the subject (Still need to buy Book #2 and #3 for Volume 3 of Stalingrad book collection from David Glantz) and always dreamed about Command Ops - Stalingrad. Well now I guess I will have to do it myself
Should be fun! I have to find some time to read the editor manuals and then do some basic scenario design.
Thanks again for inspiring me!
Peter

Hi Peter. Thanks for the comments! I definitely encourage you to take a look at the editor. I've had a lot of fun using it.
I actually have
already created 2 Stalingrad scenarios:
Operation Hubertus: Covers the German Pioneer attack in late November against the remnants of the Soviet 62nd army on the west bank of the Volga.
Race to the Volga: Covers the German 6th army entry into Stalingrad and the arrival of the 13th Guards Division.
You can download both scenarios here:
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/94jrq30461sd ... JBvwa?dl=0
You will need to also download the signature files in this folder, as well as both maps (Stalingradwest ad Stalingradlate).
I've updated the Stalingradlate map for Operation Hubertus but I haven't updated the Stalingradwest map yet. Both are massive battles as they should be.
You will also need to download my .279 converted estab file for the Eastern Front here: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/6kayx84w4mub ... 65GGa?dl=0

You can just re-do the cache from within the editor, Peter, once you've got the map loaded there. One of the drop downs has an option for the cache, I forget which.
Great stuff, Chris. Thanks.

Hi,
Sound great, a fantastic achievement.. but am struggling to find the two maps. Just South Stalingrad there as far as I can see and when I try to launch the scenarios I get a Map Data error report.
I am probably being very stupid.. will not be the first time..
.
All the best,
Kip.

Hi CapHillrat,
I think I'm doing something wrong. I have downloaded your files and placed them in the game directory as following:
South Stalingrad.cop, I put it into the Maps folder
EFSTEstab.coe and EFSTEstab.xml, I put into the Estabs folder
Operation Hubertus.cos, I put into My Scenarios folder
When I try to load Operation Hubertus.cos into the scenario editor, I get error "Map Database could not be opened". Note that for the map South Stalingrad.cop; I do not have a cache file. What am I doing wrong ? Do I need to generate the cache file ?
Thanks for your help!
Peter

Hi Peter. To play Hubertus you will need to add the StalingradLate map and cache to your map folder. Race to the Volga uses Stalingrad West.
I've just added both maps to the dropbox folder. You should see them in there now. Thanks for letting me know, I didnt realize those maps weren't in this folder.

So what's the Stalingradlate cop and cache for, Chris? Not used by either scenario, right?
Peter, to use the Stalingradwest map you need to convert it first. Either: Open scenmaker and select Race to the Volga from the scenarios list. You will get a message that it will take a long time. It will. Around 8 minutes on my (decent) system. The progress bar never changes from 10%, so ignore it, be patient. Let it load and convert, then select 'save as' and select 'Race to the Volga' writing over the original when prompted. Or: Open mapmaker and select the Stalingradwest map. Same process as it loads. 8 minutes and patience. Maybe to be sure select the option to rebuilb the cache too then save and exit. It will work with either of these methods, I think. I always do the mapmaker route.

StalingradLAte is the map for Operation Hubertus.
StalingradWest is the map for Race to the Volga.
StalingradSouth is a map without a scenario right now.
