The northern portion of the front looks really hairy for China.

It doesn't look like it. It is. It's the same route I've used to crush China in my AAR he's using now. And there aren't any Nationalist units around the North to prevent the movement of the Japanese towards the Chungking area...

The Mao HQ is being rebuilt and will come back May/Jun 40 and there is one Communist Inf in the present reinforce pool. The path to central China is long and hard for supply, it can be done but takes a lot of time and Nationslist units will also be built.

A single Japanese raider is 3 impulses away from just walking into Chungking. Of course, both the Communists and Nationalists can throw some units in the way, but still.

Yes, that is the distance in hexes but weather/supply is almost certain to make it take more time than those 3 impulses and stretch over more than one turn.
Time will tell if the Chinese have time to stop it with defenders

There is a temporary truce for all Powers now in effect.

When the game stopping bug encountered has been cleared, the game may continue.

We have a tentative resumnption of activities.

Jan/Feb 40 begins with Axis initiative and storms in temperate areas but still fine in S Monsoon.

Germany land, Italy and JApan combined action.

Japan loads and ships 4 Inf units to China, two directly into Canton. Strat bombing in China takes I pp.

Germany adds troops in the Belgrade area but no attack in the storm. Build up near the Belgian border continues.

Japan has only one attack in South China after a successful ground strike, 1 Nationalist Mil lost.

Jan/Feb 40 Axis impulse 2 ( impulse 5 ) Sevee winter weather, All of Europe in Blizzard

Japan land, Germany and Italy combined action.

All German and Italian SUBs sail. Very poor searches, only results are 1 CW CA aborted, 1 Italian SUB sunk and 1 damaged. The Italians are already hurting with naval losses.

Japanese forces continue sliding west from Si-An slowly, no movement in south China.

Jan/Feb 40 Allies impulse 2 ( impulse 8 ) Blizzards in all Europe

A 40% end of turn if all passed. The Communists need to move so no passing.

China and France land, rest combined.

The CW adds a few convoy defenders. Russia moves closer to the Iraq border in Persia. Chinese Communists near Si-An slide west a little more, now at the mountains again.

Turn did not end.

Jan/Feb 40 Axis impulse 3 ( impulse 11 ) Still winter but snow in Med.

Ge and It combined, Japan land action

Ge sends ships to N Sea but fails to find CW. Italy fights in W Med and gets some surprise points on the CW fleet there.! CW CV aborted and the Italian Ftr as well. Non find for the net round.

Japan continues to slide west in the Si-An area and begins to threaten the interior Chin area. One attack in the south is shown. The partisan risk is still near zero.

The attack in South China at +18 rolled 8 and the Div was lost.

The Chinese will now have to place reinforcements in Central China to meet the thraat of Japan moving south from the northern front there.

The turn ended on a 3.
