yet another naval bug

Post by joshuamnave »

Disclaimer: I don't have a save game. And I no longer care enough to dig up a save game that probably wouldn't get downloaded anyway. I've lost any confidence that this game will ever work properly.

Bug 1: Move a stack of naval units to sea in a combined move that contains at least one surface ship and at least one transport, into a sea zone where they can load at least one division and at least one corps. Load the division onto the SCS first. You will no longer be able to load the corps onto the transport. If you load all the transports first, then you can load the division no problem.
Bug 2: Realize that you triggered this bug and cancel the naval move so that you can work around by loading the transports first. Surprise! The entire stack is now floating in the middle of the sea zone, not in one of the boxes, not back in port, and not selectable. Curse the new regression bug that popped up in the first 5 minutes after loading the patch, scratch your head in amazement that this could have slipped into the public beta, get over your anger at paying to beta test a game almost a year after release, and reload from the start of the naval move.
Bug 3: Watch as the game grinds to a crawl as every screen has to be re-rendered one line at a time.

Yes, but you still have a glimmer of hope - otherwise you wouldn't be posting [:)]

Weird that there are now naval bugs popping up, while Steve has been doing production fixes mainly, and is about to start fixing naval as of coming week. As if the is playing himself with this.

This just happened to me too. Moved two Jap amphs into South China sea to pick up units in
Manila. Picked one up then changed my mind and cancelled and both amphs got stuck on a hexdot
south of paracel islands, not selectable. Saved, downed the last of my beer and went to bed...
Reloaded and both amphs (4434 & 4435)were gone... Paracel-Spratly triangle?...[&:]
Saved game with lost amphs enclosed, using latest patch 1.2.1.2 sept 3rd.

They are "in between" - the "units in game" shows them as moving, but not where... see screenshot.
I was able with the debugtool to get them into Tokyo, so they are not lost in that wormhole, but you will have to go back to an autosave earlier to progress.
