38, hyperactive 2 year old daughter, and a wife that really hates me staying up late playing WAW or posting to the Forum... Oh, well... Guess I'll have to get her some more quilt stuff...

Started around 10 with AH's Luftwaffe. Older brother just killed my USAAF every time we played... <sigh>. Migrated up to SL and PL. Others TOO numerous to mention. Still have about 50 'survivors' left...

I pass the remains of the 'old' AH office every morning here in Baltimore. I let out a howl of greif every day, back and forth... Oh, the strange looks I get...

Can we raise a memorial????

Well, i see that i belong to the younger portion of this lot

Age 25 ( 26 in november 26th ) Happy father of three beautiful children aged 6, 1,5 and 0,5 yrs. Been playing all sorts of boardgames since little boy, Roleplaying since the age of 12. D&D, AD&D, Cyberspace, Middle-earth role playing ( MERP ), Rolemaster. Now, unfortunately my time's limited to playing SPWAW. Have been enjoying myself very much so far. My dream is to have the time to play SPWAW and to be able to work on my roleplaying campaign.

Another over the hill guy here...45 years old. 2 kids getting into high school. Wife hates me playing as much as I do.

Spent my youth playing APBA baseball. Mostly for the love of the game and its solitaire replayability. As computers became available played just about all PC wargames. Steel Panthers was and is the best of all time. SPW@W finishes what SP1 should have been!

Figmo: I'm sorry I beat out the Navy's Junior service (USMC) but I tried to hit the 'Next Oldest Topic' at the end of this post/page, but it wouldn't send me back to WB's site....something wrong with my machine I guess...oh well back to reading these posts, they are so interesting I'm cutting into game time......

I am 25, married and with children.

Though I am having a Rommel drives... PBEM league game with real WW2 vet. He's now (If I remember it right) 72 years.

He has a mortar shrapnel wound. He's Italian. According to him he was patrolling the Yugoslavian mountains when he was 17½ years old. I'd say that's a hard one to beat!

and if not cranking up the "marshall" to 11,
I rock with SPWAW.

Started with Kampfgruppe, War in Russia, Btl. Commander, Panzer grenadier, Panzer Strike, Typhoon of Steel...on AtariXL or C64 in the late 80´s. Also Squad Leader is colecting some dust now.
Is there life after SPWAW? Maybe CL?

Well 32, however, its Sunday morning and I'm feeling about double that, no make that triple!

Started playing computer wargames in the mid 80's - the game I can't quite recall. I think it was one set in Nth Africa.

That's cool, Alby. I'm glad to see another bass player in the bunch. I was a weekend warrior of the club variety for close to 25 years. Gave it up in 97, just after my daughter was born. Now, all of my weekends are spent with the family and in front of the PC, fighting on the virtual battlefields. Still love my rock n roll, though!

Hi all, I am 36 until this coming April, single. Thirty years ago, one of my uncles needed an opponent to play AH's Gettysburg and Tactics II. Been hooked ever since, moved to computer games as soon as I could afford my first computer since opponents were so tough to find.

Now, I am back to my SPWaW campaign. I think that I am facing more Polish tanks than they were actually able to deploy countrywide.

A 'legionary' since I was a boy with small soldiers ! I began with Indians against Cowboys...that was the powerful US trading influence across Europe...untill I knew small soldiers from Atlantic trademark and knew about WWII...

Okay, simply put, I'm 32.
Played a lot of Squad Leader in the mid 80's.
Got hooked on Perfect General II for a couple of years with my cousin. Very happy to find SPWaW. Was looking for something like this for a couple of years.

I have reached the rather mature age of 38, but when it comes down to wargaming, my wifes tells me that i´m nothing but a teenager with pimples

Started way back in the late 70´s on a ZX Spectrum, then Atari and C64, Amiga (took a long time before i turned over to PC

)All the way nothing but wargames, but since SP1 appeared i have been hooked!!!

Am 45 and have been playing war games since the late 60's. The first games by brother and I got were Midway and Africa Korps, unless you want to count Battleship and Risk.

40 going on 10 and regressing. Started with AH Alesia in high school. ASL, Gettysburg, Third Reich, Midway... Discovered SPWAW through a friend. Have been hooked on B17-2 lately, but will be sending my 20 dollars shortly to supprt this great company. V5.0 will get me back into SPWAW again I'm sure. So many games too little time. Got to pick up my guitar and banjo and get out the door to get some playing in. Could they add the banjo as a psychological warfare weapon?

Read my first post in this thread...I couldn't have been older than 4 or 5. My brother and I played with my uncle's games while he was in Vietnam. I can remember my 4th grade teacher bringing AH's Gettysburg to school for some reason, and I can remember kicking other kids' asses because I'd already played many different types of wargames. Hell, I can remember my dad, my uncle, my brother and I organizing GI Joe squads!

Started out with SL when I was 9 or 10, but we never did understand that rulebook so we made up our own rules. Proved to give some *really* interesting situations.

Just to mention a few examples:

prisoners were not prisoners but unarmed commandos that would have to ambush and steal the guns of other units.

the MA of any tank or gun(for example 75L)was not the caliber, but the range the gun could fire in hexes. Believe me when I say that those 280mm Nebelwerfers were real killers.

Each squad had the number of men depicted on the counter. Made stacking pretty exciting.

The typical battle was fought using every avaliable map and every avaliable counter.

The target accusition (how DO you spell that word) counters were mines, with each counter representing one mine.

Broken = dead, so we would have the battlefield littered with corpses.

Damn we had fun in those days. I just wish I had a photo or something of one of our battlefields.

Try to imagine one of our infamous river crossings, where each rubber raft carried something like 20 counters (they had something like 40pp, and since each squad only were 2 men...
