T129 - South

The situation at the end of the turn. The entire pocket has been destroyed in one week. Unfortunately, one of the less realistic aspects of the game. It would probably be better to give the encircled troops beachhead supply until the reach a certain supply threshold (maybe 20%). It would simply not be possible in the real world to kill/capture/destroy 500000 men + 1500 tanks in one week.

For now the Russians are limited by supply. The next turns are dedicated to building rail lines and bringing infantry to the correct locations. I will not advance without infantry support.

its hard not to look at that map and think that something is missing ... (such as a German army group?)

Check mate! Well played against a good opponent!
I think stef's attempt to rescue AGS was noble but ill advised given his insufficient flank protection. It's what would have happened to Manstein if he'd kept pushing towards 6th army at Stalingrad.
His best bet now is to pull back to roughly the 41 start line and hope to keep you out of Berlin for a year from there.

Yes something like this would probably be an improvement. I would modify it by raising the 20% threshold for lower morale troops and lowering it for higher morale troops. Or something similar.

1) trains never go undetected by air recon, never.
2) vehicles, especially heavy ones, can't operate in swamps (they sink right in). Roads in swamps could be built by const. units.

No unit should be ever "on train" within range of tactical bombers. The exception could be if, and when, "air dominance" is achieved.

Can you elaborate? I'd like to know which ones.

I disband all sapper brigades, naval brigades and battalion size SUs the AI build when I was forming new armies. I have also disbanded some rifle divisions because I just don't need them. I do this now because I have so many APs and a new front arrives in January. Earlier in the game I already disbanded motorcycle regiments and SAD air fields. I also put at least 30 armor brigades in static mode but I could have disbanded those as well. When the front gets shorter I will probably disband many RR repair brigades. Then there is the question how many air fields one actually needs. I will experiment and try to keep the Red Army as efficient as possible.

That's one of the things I wish would be addressed in a patch, all these SUs that you end up having to get rid of. Just create the army HQ and forget all the SUs. Let me decide what's needed. Does every army created in July really need a ski battalion?

Agreed on the silly "free" SUs, which everybody just disbands and wind up being an actual cost on the AP budget.

T130 - North

This is completely new territory for me. I never played into 1944 and I never flipped Romania. My last game ended on 1/1/44 with the encirclement of Konigsberg.

In the north I capture Kaunas. His new defensive line is strong and will require grinding. Or maybe I can bypass the whole thing.

There is little resistance in the center.

T130 - South

This is a period of reorganizing my army. One front will cover the Pripjet marshes and the out edges, four fronts will push through Lvov northwest, one front will push into Hungary and two fronts will conquer Romania. I will try to flip Romania as quickly as possible. I'm assuming that he has Arad and the rail lines covered because he has been in this situation before.

I keep pushing west and southwest but supply problems make any major operation impossible.

Granted, but considering your recent staggering successes I don't think you'll generate much sympathy with this complaint. [;)]

Was not a complaint, just a statement. I like operational pauses.

I captured the town of Vaslui. Now it's up to the dice to decide if Romania surrenders.

An interesting interpretation of "battalion." I wonder what causes this.

something I've never understood, what happens to partisan manpower when they are removed due to contact with the main Soviet forces? Does it go into the pool, or just disappear?

I believe they are absorbed into the pool but I have no proof.
