USS MIDWAY!!

Post by Cuthalin »

For fun i am playing V AI as Allies with FULL HELP.

it is Jan 1944 and besides having F7F tigercats in operation as my land based US marine fighter, i have just recieved a suprise .... USS MIDWAY.
Yes the 137 plane capacity Fleet carrier! 82 Bearcats 27 SB2C and 27 TBM's.

I know in real life it was commissioned a week or so after Japan surrendered, but was not aware it was in the game. Any one else had it? Do i get any more [:)]

seems like an interesting concept in the situation where the allies need the help. I played vs the AI to learn and have played two games vs a organic opponent. I always play allies and eventually find my forces get too unorganized to maintain forward momentum. It is a challenge for the next attempt.

After playing 7 Uncommon Valor games, I find most of my IJN opponents wanted to play a dream IJN scenario where the best course of action for the allies is to keep all ships off the board and the entire IJN carrier fleet is in operaion in the SWPac for 18 months of the game.

Now I am playing two games of War in the Pacific; game interest is proportional to the output of turns by the opponent as daily turns (and hoping one of us do not die before the 5 years it may take to play the game). So PW remains a good comprise

There's another Midway class carrier in the game. They're in the game because Matrix extended the end date through 1946.

Mentione in the Matrix documentation is a recommendation to play with AI set to max help. The is apparently compensation for what Matrix calls AI "cheats" that were present in SSI but disabled by Matrix.
