Worryingly the sheer size of Glasgow in comparison to the rest will mean this referendum can't be called for some time yet......

Another big win for the No's - Perth and Kinross - SNP country goes No. Very strange - I would have thought SNP territory = Scottish Independence Party would mean a big Yes vote.

I don't want to count chickens but it looks like the drinks are on me - what are you having?

If the result is as it looks likely then no gloating from me - just profound relief.

Also, there have been two threads on this subject, the way they have been conducted says much about the people of these isles [&o]

Thanks to Matrix for allowing this hugely important subject to be discussed [&o]

Isn't Great Britain the name of the island itself?

If Scotland leaves I suppose the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland would have to drop the United part?

I guess they could keep the "United" part couldn't they? There would still be England, Ireland and Wales, right?

I don't think so. It's called such due to the union between the kingdoms of England and Scotland. Wales was never a kingdom.
While Wales never where a Kingdom it sure consisted of several kingdoms.

Not that it might have had any relevance to this discussion.

Then my congratulations to the no side is in order.

And my condolences to the yes side.
