Here are the rules to the boardgame:

go to http://www.a-d-g.com.au/ and click on Downloads.

Download WiF-RaW-7-aug-04.zip and WiFFE_FAQ_v1.3_7_July_2009.pdf

The ruleset MWiF utilizes are pretty much these, with some deviations based on ease/difficulty of coding the exact wording. There is a Rules as Coded document and two Players Manuals that come with the game.

Sadly not. There is very little that ADG did wrong with this game. Sadly the Final Edition maps was one of their mistakes. They are (imo) absolutely hideous [:(] ADG should use MWIF style maps.

A lot of what is included in MWiF are those extra kits on the ADG site that are above and beyond the base game. Probably to get the same areas and units depicted you'd need to spend over $350 to get all those same kits.

The base game has 4 maps. Each are 574 x 820mm. The two maps for Asia and the Pacific are half the scale of the East and West Europe maps which means the Terrai nEffects Chart is different depending which map you are on.

MWiF has the entire world (well almost, the high arctic and low antarctic are not there) all at the same scale on a continuously scrolling map.

Here is a link to a Hyperlinked rules I did some time ago.

I received permission from Harry Rowland to upload them.

http://www.mediafire.com/view/?3ysb71egjfb657q

Note that the index was never completed as the game came out and the manuals included made these obsolete. The products manuals incorporate the games mechanics, 30 something pages of advice, all the forms included etc. laid out in a way that is much more user friendly to new players.

In 2005 I had most of the rules set up in Html code.

It was refused unexamined as being too complicated.

I'm just pointing out some of the missed opportunities from "then" becoming obvious "now". The time hard coding the RAC into MWiF could have been used more efficiently.

The RAC could have been:

Easily maintainable and updated.

Available online years ago with links to the other rules. Does the current RAC allow links to other rules?

Able to be viewed online by prospective customers.

The Wheel did not have to be reinvented. The RAC did not have to be hard coded into MWiF.

Rules as coded
Maybe we are not in agreement with what coded means.. I understand it as programmed ...

Whether the rules were a Word doc, HTML, PDF, plain text or inscribed on stone tablets - they'd still have to be programmed to result in a MWiF exe.

I know you feel strongly about the manuals and how useless you think they are. But just because you feel that way does not make then useless to everyone else. As I personally find then very useful and very glad I got them.

However, making you pay for something you feel you do not need is a valid argument. Unfortunately, this game is not the only thing that you pay for and you are required to get 'extras' whether you want them or not. I assume you would get just as upset about those items as you do the manuals for MWiF [:)]

My "cost" to have a printed manual, its a tactil thing and after hours having the book in some casses helps me personaly, only cost me shipping...
WOW
nice to be able to do both.. the game costs much more than a norrmal game, but not that much more and really shipping for a manual dvd etc cannot be too much, certainly they ship from Europe to destinations in Europe...
ok
now after I am lost and have tried to understand the videos... where do I start ?

Just keep asking questions - there's a lot of knowledge on this forum and we are only too keen to help new players.

Sit yourself down with a game of Global War - I suggest using the optionals I am using in AARse V. I am not using oil and have tried to keep things relatively simple. For convoy placement have a look at Orm's previous AAR (not his current one). He shows exactly what to do with the US, Japan, France and the CW - invaluable for getting started.

Then, when you've set up and about to start Impulse 1 - save the game loads of times and just start experimenting.

Diving into the full global war can be lots of fun, but if you want to scale up to it, you might also want to start with the Barbarossa and Guadalcanal scenarios, which you can use to learn how the game works when you only have to make decisions for two major powers (sort of 3 in Guadalcanal, but the Commonwealth almost doesn't count).

In particular, while the land war is probably reasonably similar to other wargames, if you've tried them, the naval war does take some getting used to.
