Situation looks good at Kaluga. He moves between the two forts and gets hammered.

A couple of attacks in the North. I would prefer this area to be quiet. [:D]

He gets a tight victory here. Two reserve activations are not enough.

Center after combat. North of Moscow is starting to be a huge problem.

aye, you really do need to be careful about just pushing past strongpoints. Its a great tactic if you have overwhelming numbers as the Axis player either has to retreat or exhaust themselves trying to swat you away, but it doesn't work where the Germans are still strong.

still he is putting you under a lot of pressure to the north of Moscow

Yes, it's amazing how fast you are caught with your pants down during blizzard. I took Torzohk and Kalinin too late to build strong fortifications. Now both cities are gone and there are no more strong points. The only good thing is that the terrain is mostly light woods.

He's going to have to crack your position by Rzhev if he hopes to encircle Moscow, I think, for logistical reasons. And that won't be easy. Driving between these two pivot points will leave him exposed to counterattacks and in sketchy supply. But you will likely have to reinforce the area.

Yes, he has to follow the rail line to Rzhev. I already had to move tanks to the front line and reserve tanks are on the way. The line is pretty thin and defensive CV not that great.

I don't think you're in any real danger here, the worst of the blizzard is behind you.
I would have had the mountain divisions in the Moscow area from the start though, but then I'm just naturally cautious.

If I could play this again I would put both mountain divisions into Torzohk and Kalinin. I have great forts west of Rostov. It would have been much smarter to just retreat to this fort line.

T30 - Combats

Some combat examples from the center. A failed attack due to reserve activation and a successful attack despite reserve activation.
