Aircraft search pattern colors

Post by colt6900 »

The reason I'm asking about aircraft search colors is so I can put the maximum number of planes where I need them, which seem to fall
at the beginning of the pattern, I can switch counterclockwise or clockwise or even create multiple search patterns to put multiple
planes where I need if I understand the colors correctly.

Logic would dictate green is one plane per corridor, green and blue is green out search blue return search and
black is multiple planes in each corridor, please correct me if I'm wrong.

Short of time right now, but look in the game folder for a sub-folder called "Manuals". If you've patched there should be a PDF inside called "Interface Addendum.pdf"

That describes the basics of search arcs, including the colors.

There are two search phases per day, morning and afternoon. Blue arcs are searches in the morning, green are searches in the afternoon. If there are enough planes, some arcs may be searched in both phases.

Thanks for the clarification msieving1 on green and blue pattern search, you know what black represents?

Also how you know when a search pattern will be in the morning and afternoon, I've never seen blue by itself it's always with cream but green will be by itself so I'm confused? Does that mean there are never morning searches by themselves only afternoon?

Thanks for the clarification msieving1 on green and blue pattern search, you know what black represents? Both morning and afternoon, IIRC

Also how you know when a search pattern will be in the morning and afternoon, I've never seen blue by itself I see it all the time. Must just be an artifact of how your search arcs are set up. Experiment some next orders phase. it's always with cream but green will be by itself so I'm confused? Does that mean there are never morning searches by themselves only afternoon?

Black means there are searches in both phases of the turn.

Also, note that the colors are different for ASW searches as opposed to naval searches.
