World airports .inst files--suggestions for improvements

The world airports .inst files are enormously useful because they show the location of so many airports around the world. There is one thing I would like to see, if possible...

All appear to use pretty much the same kind of single-unit airport, without regard for the actual length of the runway at the airport.

Would it be possible to update the .inst files with the correct runway lengths? I know this would be a big project, but it would make the .inst files even more useful.

A related request, although probably a lot harder to do because of the historical research required...would it be possible to create a Cold War global list of airports?
