Naval Abort Move - Stuck

Post by rkr1958 »

I'm stuck and not sure if it's the game or my issue. Probably the later. The situation is that the Kriegsmarines sent out surface raiders in the Cape St. Vincent sea area. The RN responded and forced all raiders to abort. One of the KM raiders, the Bismark is shown in Bordeaux. The problem is that in the game I get a circle with an "X" through it and can't move the ship there. In fact, there isn't any place that I see where I can move the ship. I'm not sure what I need to do to get through this (abort) phase. Do I have to destroy these ships? If so, how? By the way, the RN has ships in the Bay of Biscay.

My understanding of your situation is that the Germans have to abort ships in Cape St Vincent to French ports with CW forces in the Bay of Biscay.

If this is the case, you have tell the program that you want to go through the Bay of Biscay. Select the unit(s) you are aborting, and then cntl-click on the Bay of Biscay. This will bring up the interception screen, and the CW will be given the opportunity to intercept the fleeing ships. If, after the interception, any of them survive, you can then click on a port on the French Atlantic Coast to send them to that port.

If you have to go through multiple seas zones with enemy forces that can intercept to reach a friendly port, you have to go through this procedure for each intervening sea zone with hostile forces.
I thought I knew how to play this game....

Thanks! I knew it was something simple I was missing. When I entered the Bay of Biscay I saw just an "X" for the KM ship(s). However, while still in the Cape St. Vincent sea area the "tip line" on the control interface "said" I needed to do a control-left-click (as you posted). So thanks! I would have still be stuck if not for your reply. It took your post for me to see the that tip. [&o]
