You typically get success with those minefields. Don't you really have to overload them before any hits?

The sub minefields generally work right away or not at all for me. Of course, were I to steam into Rangoon I would hit my mines (already happened several times);

I hit Allied sub minefields all the time. Even sweepers with good commanders hit them. Even after I detect the minefields. I just can't wait for the end game when he drops thousands of the suckers on me.[:(]

If you can drop different types of mines in the same hex then I think your chance to hit is even greater...perhaps might be why Allied fields are so effective Dutch and American mines. The Allies haven't laid too many lately however, but in the beginning of my takeover minefields were a seemingly never ending problem.

I think I read somewhere that each mine field is checked separately so different mine fields = more chance to hit.

Remember that he can get sig int that looks like "CV Akagi is located at Koepang"...

Maybe you should pick a cluster of ports? Lessen the chance of him getting some DL hits on a base. Dunno about that, as I haven't done it, but maybe?

I figured that is what he got; why else would he heavily naval and recon the base?

Once he starts penetrating my perimeter and advancing and kicking my butt I hope there will be holes in the coverage where the kb can sneak in and return the favor.

I remember the same thing. I think Alfred might have even been the source, but don't quote me!

I don't think snapper went down, but hopefully to the yard.

Agree that using the ASW heavy DD's is a very good use. Smart too.

Not to be outdone, these two DD get only one solid hit, but a near miss also starts a fire on the bridge of the submarine.

I hate Allied subs...there are way too many. Supposedly I have sunk 44 of the wee beasties.

But then another sub nails a minelayer, but the mines are in place at Nauru and we should make it back to port...

China:

Chinese attack across a river...on victory points I am ahead 3-1 according to Tracker.

Look at that Chinese Fighters at Changsha...such a cunning opponent.

Here is a picture of the overly aggressive and totally obnoxious American submarines.

I guess I really messed up here....I suppose Allies just delivered 40K supplies to Rangoon, so the heck with the Monsoon.[:(] Sometimes I am so slow.

Let us hope you are wrong...generally subs can't take two direct hits unless of course it is fog of war.

Putting together a strike package in Burma:

200+ Fighters on Escort, 150 Bombers all from Magwe with a dozen fighters on night time CAP.
Bombers will be 1 sentai naval trained Helen IIa, Betties and Kates.

Supporting adjacent bases will hold fighters on CAP. About 125 more fighters.

I keep jumping back and forth on pulling the trigger or not. I fear a splintered blood bath.

EDIT: I pulled the trigger...hopefully I don't lose more than 100 planes.

Turn is done and the attack in Burma is on...

I figure any attack needs at least 200 fighters on escort to work now...making big air bases a must.

No sweeps. My sweeping pilots crash and burn like my escorts so they are all escorting instead. Perhaps numbers will lighten the losses. Probably not.
