Not sure if this type of UUV/USV has its place in CMANO

Liquid Robotics showcased its Wave Glider SV3 wave and solar powered USV/UUV at AAD 2014

Image
Defense Applications
A Liquid Robotics representative attending AAD 2014 told Navy Recognition that the Wave Glider SV3 is already in use with many navies around the world including the U.S. Navy (which has around 30 units), the Royal Australian Navy (which operates 6 of these unmanned vehicles), the Royal Norwegian Navy and even NATO.

The U.S. Navy deploys the Wave Glider SV3 for a number of missions including:
» Information Surveillance Reconnaissance (ISR)
» Underwater Terrain Mapping
» Anti-submarine Warfare (ASW - The system is then fitted with a towed array)
» Underwater relay
» Data link relay

The Wave Glider SV3 can operate for years at sea with no fuel, including in severe weather (e.g. hurricanes or Sea State 8) which makes it a perfect persistent platform. Its average continuous speed is 2 knots which allows it to cover 100 nautical miles in 3 days. Its payload capacity is 45 Kg (100 lbs).

Not sure if it's been proposed already, and as of now it's just a paper proposal. Still, we have some paper ships already in the DB3K.

So I noted while placing the AN/TPS-77 radar unit that there is a minor discrepancy between the US and Aussie versions of the unit. The US radar has as its sensor 1 AN/TPS-77 radar, while the Aussie version has as its sensor 1 AN/TPS-70 radar.
To go up, pull back on the stick.
To go down, pull back harder...

As a recent thing to note.

For the Virginia-class Block IV, the Navy has said that the first submarine of the class is to be named the USS Vermont, so that can give a name for the unnamed Block IV class in the Database.

In addition, as a suggestion for a Virginia-class Block V submarine, possibly name it the USS Montana, since she is the only state to never have had a commissioned ship bearing her name.

Hey there!
Database entry #2833 - S-70B-28 Seahawk of the Turkish Navy should support the AGM-119 Penguin missile loadout.
Just saw this picture and noticed the loadout hasen't been added yet.

Soviet Sonars and Harpoon\MANO. Wargamer's old tears.

Hello my dear friends. Today we will talk about long story of errors and mistakes in Harpoon databases. As far as i know, all this story started from Polmar\Friedman books in "USNI guide to" series.

Main idea is very simple - never trust to NATO designation! You need to use RUSSIAN designation system as base for your work.

DB 3000 v 418

Grisha I - Soviet Navy.
1 x Bull Nose [Argun] - This is MG-322 Argun Hull Sonar. (MG-322 Argun it is smaller and less capable version of MG-332 Titan-2)
1 x Foax Tail [MG-329 Shelon] - NO!!! This is MG-339 Shelon, VDS! MG-329 _SHEKSNA_ is VDS from "Project 205P" STENKA (Border guard corvette based on Osa missile Boat). So u need to check NATO reporting name.

FF Neustrashimy - Project 1154 Yastreb
1 x Ox Yoke [MGK-365 Zvezda-1M]
1 x Ox Tail [MGK-345 Bronza]

Hello mister Friedman! No, no, no... Zvezda it is name of integral sonar suite (GAK = Hull+TASS+VDS), not only for single sonar (GAS). Main reason why soviet builded 1154 it is unified GEN-IV sonar suite - GAK Zvezda-1 (bigger Zvezda-2 was used on 11551 Udaloy-II Admiral Chabanenko). And there are various smaller versiona of GAK Zvezda-1 for using on smaller ships (ASW boats\corvettes around 500-1000t).

Bronza it is another _GEN-III_ GAK (sonar suite) for use on smaller ASW ships - something like 12412 Pauk based on PGM Tarantul ().

So u need to check NATO reporting names too.

Udaloy-II - Same stuff... Main idea of Chabanenko it is beloved GEN-IV GAK Zvezda-2. He cant have same capabities as Polinom (GEN-III MGK-355 Horse Jaw\Horse Tail). And he dont need parts of "Bronza" sonar suite from corvettes. =)

Kara - Ooops. Where is MG-325 Vega (Mare Tail) VDS\TASS? This sonar is same for CVH Moskva\Kara\Krivak.

Krivak class. Need to check.

(upd. HUGE MISTAKES IN DB!!!)

Actually there was such variants of Krivak:

1135 - MG-332 Titan-2 (Hull) + MG-325 Vega (VDS\TASS). 17 ships. Krivak-I
1135M - Sonars same, but with newer Titan-2T. +AK-100 (heavier art) and electronics upgrades. 11 ships. Krivak-II
11353 "Zharkiy" - Testbed for GEN-IV GAK Zvezda (Zvezda-1). Design works started in 1981. (Zvezda-1 version is slightly different from variant on FF Neustrashimy!) One ship.

11352 - Massive upgrade program for Krivak class in searching for "universal frigate". Design works started in 1985. MGK-365 Zvezda-1 sonar suite with THREE sonars(Hull,VDS,TASS)! This is MGK, not MG! RBU-6000 for Kh-35 Uran\SS-N-25 Switchblade, +Fregat-MA radar, etc. 3 ships. (Initially there was plan to upgrade ALL Krivak fleet to 11352.) (Krivak-I Mod)

11351 (!!!) - Nerei Project. Border guard version of Krivak. Total rearmament. Chopper Hangar. Hull - MG-335 Platina-S\MS ("Limited" version of MGK-335). Towed\VDS - MG-345 Bronza (part of sonar suite). 7(8) ships.(Krivak-III)

11356 Talwar\11356R (Talwar version for Russian Navy) - Various variants of MGK-335 Platina (GEN-III+) + part of MG-345 Bronza (VDS\TASS) or Vinyetka-M TASS. 6 ships for India. (Krivak-IV)

11356M - Krivak with modern GEN-IV sonar suite, VLS, new radars\EW\SIGINT. Etc. (Krivak-V)

61M Kashin Mod. (Six ships. 5 modified to 61MP project, and one builded as 61M project)
MG-312 Titan (Bull Nose) and MG-311 Vychegda (Wolf Paw) in game. And MGK-335 Platina sonar suite (Hull+VDS\TASS) in real.

12412 Pauk
In game:
Ox Yoke [MGK-365 Zvezda-1M] - Hull
Ox Tail [MGK-345 Bronza] - VDS

Ox Yoke\Ox Tail (Zvezda-1) - Sonar suite from FF Neustrashimy (fitted with problems) on 500t corvette? Whut?

In real:
MGK-345 Bronza - GAK (intergrated sonar suite) with Hull and small VDS\TA sonar.

Zvezda M1-01 (MG-369) -This is GEN-IV heavy dipping sonar from hydrophoil ASW corvette 11451 Mukha (3 ships). Part of Zvezda-1 sonar suite from FF Neustrashimy and Krivak Mod (11352). Sonar antenna itself is very big - ~5-6 meters (16-20 feet) tall and ~2 meters (6-7 feet) in diameter . Variable depth to 200 meters. Designation MG-xx9 is close related to MG-439 Ros-K (Parchim ASW, Ros-V = VGS-3 chopper version from Ka-27PL), MG-339 Shelon (Grisha ASW) and MG-329 Sheksna (Stenka\Osa ASW) for dipping VD sonars.

So, 500t corvette is too small to fit both complex (GAK Bronza and MG-369) at same time. =)

Etc, Etc.

According to "Oceanpribor" 2011 annual report (page 27)
report in russian so I translate intresting part
• start making GAK MGK-335EM-03 for orders 357, 358 and 359.(orders 357,358 and 359 is first three 11356R)
So it is MGK-335EM-03 for 11356R

Howdy

I've noticed that there's a bit of an error with the P-8 Poseidon

According to this photo, the aircraft has a parachute delivery method of torpedoes which allows it to drop them from high altitude.

http://a392.idata.over-blog.com/4/22/09 ... 3-2012.jpg

and according to naval-technology.com
The US Navy armed the P-8A with a development of the MK 54 torpedo that can be fired from high-altitude. The first MK 54 torpedo was successfully test fired by the P-8A Poseidon in October 2011.

http://www.naval-technology.com/projects/mma/

But in game, the P-8s go to low altitude to drop torpedoes.

Neither version of the MiG-29K (DB #920 and #3320) can take off from an aircraft carrier (tested using CVN Bush, INS Vikrant (2019), and INS Vikramaditya).

Update the scenario to the latest database and the change should flow through. You'll likely using and older version of the database.

These are my current “top ten,” the ones I really want, as soon as it is possible to get them in the database. I’ve posted them all before, but I haven't posted any requests for a while and I’ve revised a few of these, found some extra sources, etc., and I’m hoping mentioning them now might get them in the database sooner rather than later…

Weapon/Weapon Mount: 500-lb. warhead (firing range = 0.01 miles, can be used at any altitude, ground level, etc.) This will let designers create suicide trucks, small boats with bombs, IEDs, etc. The weapon damages/destroys the delivery system, of course, but that usually part of the plan. The short firing range is meant to indicate that it can only be used at really close range.

Weapon/Weapon Mount: Terrorist nuke (firing range = 0.01 miles, 5 kiloton yield, can be used at any altitude, ground level, etc.) <-- a small nuclear weapon that can be on a truck, a tanker, etc. Again, this will damage/destroy the delivery system, but the terrorist will still achieve his goals. The short firing range is meant to indicate that it can only be used at really close range—basically, you drive or sail up to the target and set it off.

Marker (Geographic) (Generic) <-- This is basically the same thing as the markers for a town or a city, but it can be used for any geographic feature, like an island or a mountain or anything else that is not a populated area but might need to be clearly identified for some reason. (Actually, the existing ones can be used for this, but it's just more aesthetically pleasing to not have to use a "city" marker for something that isn't a city.)

High Value Target (Group) (Generic) <-- this is basically an unarmed group of people on foot. It can probably be modeled using the data for an infantry platoon, but taking out the weapons, radios, etc. (I suggested “Civilians” earlier, but this would be even more general; one could use it to represent ANY group of unarmed individuals, even a herd of sheep, if one wanted. Hey, it’s high-value to the guy who owns the sheep!) This would allow for refugees, hostages, zoo animals, etc. All you have to do is set the name with the "r" command.

High Value Target (Individual) (Generic) <-- Just use the downed pilot, but take out the radio. This allows one to represent high value unarmed individual targets on foot who really is on his own or dependent on others for protection. They can be good guys (VIPs, etc.) who need to be protected or bad guys (terrorists, drug lords, etc.) who need to be taken out. All you have to do is set the name with the "r" command.

Thanks for considering these!

Poland is looking to add the Lockheed Martin AGM-158A Joint Air-to-Surface Standoff Missile (JASSM) to its fleet of Lockheed F-16 fighters, under a potential acquisition worth around $500 million.

Disclosed to the US Congress on 17 September, the proposed Foreign Military Sales programme deal with Warsaw would include 40 AGM-158As, plus flight certification test vehicles, instrumented test weapons and inert JASSM rounds.

“The proposed sale will improve Poland’s capability to meet current and future threats of enemy air and ground weapons systems,… strengthen its air-to-ground strike capabilities and increase its contribution to future NATO operations,” the US Defense Security Cooperation Agency said in a notification. “Poland will use the enhanced capability as a deterrent to regional threats and to strengthen its homeland defence,” it adds.

Warsaw’s request comes at a time of heightened tension with Moscow, prompted by the latter’s continuing support for pro-Russian separatists who are causing unrest in eastern Ukraine.

The Polish air force is also seeking an operational flightplan upgrade for its Block 52-standard F-16C/Ds. This would take the configuration to the M6.5 tape configuration, and include full integration of the JASSM weapon system.

Rex Features

Poland has an active fleet of 48 F-16C/Ds, which Flightglobal’s MiliCAS database records as having been delivered between 2006 and 2008.

Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control describes the roughly 1,020kg (2,250lb) AGM-158A as having a strike range in excess of 200nm (370km).

Bug: British F-35B Lightning II (database ID: 1095) has a take-off/landing distance 451-900m, and is therefore incapable of vertical landing. It should be 0m TOD/LAD.

[UPDATED DB v436]

About Kh-35U (3M-24)
Currently in database range of Kh-35U is 80nm.This is wrong.
Should be 260km
There is Kh-35 and Kh-35V with 80nm range. Kh-35 only for ships, Coastal missile complex Bal(SSC-6 Sennight),and Kh-35V is helicopter version. Both of version are outdated and from 2011 began to be replaced by "Unified" Kh-35U.
Also according to "Tactical Missiles Corporation" JSC site, citation from page "Kh-35UE Tactical Guided Missile" :
"Maximum range of passive detection and locking with active-passive radio homing head, km 50"

Some updates on SKR Petya II Mod with MGK-345 Bronza. This was single ship - SKR-98 (Petya-I, Project 159A), testbed for MG-345 Bronza VDS. 1978.

Petya NEVER had MG-372 Hercules! (Only Titan + Vychegda). Petya never had MG-329 Shelon. (Only MG-325 Vega on project 159M and some 159A - 9+3 = 12+ ships).

Can the F-22's flight model be improved/changed?

Right now, operational ceiling is capped -as are most fighters in Command, to just 40,000'.

Also, there is no option to use afterburner, just full military power to supercruise.

I would think the extra 10-25,000' of altitude would give it a big advantage in terms of effective missile range--both ways.

source:

http://www.f-16.net/f-22-news-article3275.html

"In full military power (no afterburner) the Raptor can operate at just more than 50,000 feet. However, it is known that the F-22 opened its aerial battles at about 65,000 feet during its first joint exercise in Alaska, apparently using its afterburner."
