How does double bonus / penalty works?

Post by AlbertN »

For ground strike, I've found it - on O-Chit use + Surprise planes roll thrice!

But for other situations I am not sure. Specifically wondering:

River + Fortification = /4 or /3 combat factor?
Also use of Engineers vs that denies both at once per unit benefitting of Eng-Bonus in combat?

Offensive Anti-Tank unit (like, JagdPanther), with Land-O-Chit attacking armour has its force *3 or *4?

A bomber, flying a night mission, at extended range - what's the halving factor for its bombing value?

Etc.

Thanks in advance.

Math is math: just multiply all fractions and multipliers together. 2*2 = 4. 1/2*1/3 = 1/6, etc. Then, after all calculations are done, before looking up things in a table or computing a combat odds ratio, round to the nearest whole number (.5 rounds up).

A bomber flying at extended range at night in rain doing ground support into a forest has its combat factor multiplied by 1/16. This is the largest reduction I can think of in the game.
ENG attacking across both a river and a fort hexside, ignore only the fort hexsi
I thought I knew how to play this game....

maybe it is just me, but can´t remember situations where penalties are double

do you mean air offensive ?
A bomber, flying a night mission, at extended range - what's the halving factor for its bombing value?

it should be 1/2 + 1/2 so 1/4, but as I understand it there are some bugs in night missions

if it is included in the offensive, x2 vs a hex without arm/mec, and x4 vs a hex with arm/mec

River plus fortification - an engineer allows you to ignore the fort hexside.

Red circled AT or AA against armor when doubled by an O-chit would be doubled twice.

Thanks for all the answers!

I quite needed to evaluate (and still am) if it is worth to build a Westwall at any given point in the game.

Most often the three fort hexsides you get as Germany to start with are placed around Kiel. One game I put them on the three least defensible hexesides along the northern Rhine. They did help in '44-'45.

michaelbaldur,
As in it's not doubling the halving? I have noticed that flying at night and at extended range is only 1/2 instead of 1/4.

In what phase? That is, what was the air mission?
