At the beginning of March, Thailand and Indochina were firmly in Japanese control.
With the surprise capture of Ayuthia, the rail lines and roadways were captured through that vital area.
Airdrops of troops quickly took over the central plains of Thailand and other units rushed toward the south and
east. At the end of the period Bangkok is isolated.
Saigon may fall before May and over 500 AV are on the move from Vinh toward Hanoi.
Cam Rahn Bay and a couple other bases remain Japanese on the southern tip of Indochina.
Once Saigon falls the 1200 AV will clean up the area and then strat move to Hanoi and surrounding area to clear
it out. That will be nearly 2K in the area. In that same time the country of Malay has been captured down to
Singapore and Johore Bahru.
It has been my contention for a very long time that once Ayuthia falls the gig is up in Southeast Asia. The way supply
propagates and how much supply is needed in this area the IJ just cannot stuff enough supplies into the area
to hold any ground. Then as you so well stated airdrops and armor blitzkrieg the area so fast the IJ cannot respond
in kind.
In one game from this position it took 2 months to blitz China -- game ended before I could take Taiwan ...
well done!

Saigon falls to the 2nd shock attack. There is a convoy off of the coast of Singkawang that was headed toward Soc Trang to establish a large air force base. They are now diverting into Saigon.
NJP gave me a taste of combined air power this turn and I lose a DD and may lose another. I put up a CAP trap this turn near the destroyers. We are going to play cat and mouse quite a bit I imagine.
All damage has been repaired at Manila and the airfield went from 7% to 46% of lvl 4. The port took a similar jump. 2-3 weeks and Manila should be built out. I have about the equivalent of 1000 engineers on it right now. Almost every construction unit in the area has been pulled into Manila to develop the base and then move north to develop the northern coast for airfields.

NJP has at least 10 units that were stranded when Aruythia fell and they have been trying to make their way northeast into China ever since. I am herding them and hoping I can keep them out of Luangprabang. If things keep moving along they will hopefully never reach the front lines.
I see 1 unit of 5000 troops at Hanoi so likely a regiment and probably the one that did my chineese unit in. I have 630 AV of troops moving into the base next turn.
In addition there are another 800+AV of troops moving up behind that and 100AV of tanks.
There are 12000 troops at Haiphong but I might roll right past those and slam into Lang Son at warp speed while the follow on forces tangle with Haiphong. They could get a bit of help from some surface forces.
In 2 days a division and enough support troops to hold the place for a long time will land at Kingushan along with most of the US Navy and air force.
I hope to get troops on land in China quickly to start pushing him east. Some envelopments might be nice as well, we shall see.

Maybe he just wants to get some of my good troops out in the relative open or maybe he is distracted. However, I have about 1300 AV fixing to move southeast cutting off his line of supply to Kweiyang. About 1800 AV is going to roll up the street taking it's place in the hole.
And another 700+ AV is about to cross a river to the southeast.
Finally, for the first time in the game I used strategic bombing to take out some factories at Kunming. I am just opposed to damaging things I can use. However, I have to re-thing that portion of the game for the next go round.
Finally, I have 640 AV heading SE down the road toward Nanning. I am hoping to spoil any stand he tries to make on the other side of the river and/or support the assault of Haiphong if it turns out to take that long.
These mountain strongholds are a PITA!!! I have been having 2 divisions get their butts alternately kicked here. Maybe because it is only 20,000 stacking, I dont know. Anyway... Time for all that to change. I have a total of 3 divisions plus 3 tank battalions and a combat engineer regiment. I think it will be at least 3* over stacked but if you cant burn a few supplies as the Allies, what good is it all??
The OCD thing is getting boring and Guam has 30K of troops with Tinian having at least 14K. I am going to check out Saipan and if it is heavily loaded as well I might cancel any operations in the Marianas Islands. 50K+ troops in the middle of nowhere doesnt suck... I was never planning on taking Truk so it wouldnt have been a clean sweep anyway.
However, I have a division sitting on Babeldaob and another on Pelilu and some thorns need to be removed. Tomorrow, many base forces and AV support will arrive at Pelilu in preparation for the airbase becoming level 4.
Once current surface operations are done near Hainian I should be able to pull a few battleships away to aid in the conquest of the island. My idea is simple. Bombard the living crap out of it while pounding on the troops with my land combat forces. If it appears I am losing I have another division (for 3 total) prepped for the island. It is on Mindano and the reason to push the end of that stronghold.
Yap has 12K troops and I do have a division prepped for that island as well but we will see what happens.

Singapore is getting frisky cause I only have 450 AV to the north. Moving in a few hundred more. He is contained for the moment along with Palembang. Singapore is providing him HI which I wouldnt mind eliminating but other than that he can rot for a while.
Moving most major shipping and other assess to Saigon.
Shemya is at a level 5 airfield. It is about time to swing my forces over to this side of the map and begin the amphibious assaults on the islands east of Japan.
This is best taken on when the Allies have a clear superiority in naval forces. This will both divert his activities away from the buildup I want to conduct on the west side of the home islands and also required him to fight over deep blue water with an inferior navy and carrier fleet. At this time he has 3 main carriers and maybe a few smaller ones. I have 7-10 main ones active and a dozen or more smaller carriers.
I could try a push onto the mainland from just the west side but by diverting his forces both east and west it lessens his focus and will also be an asset as the strategic bombing program goes forward.
My submarine versus merchant percentage has been pretty miserable so I am going to try denial of space to the Japanese player by heavily using my subs in the assault on the islands of Japan.

I intend to take Hainan and put pressure on the China coast. Depending upon defenses I may land at Pakhoi or other bases. I am concerned about the concentration of fighters and the Heavy Urban hexes of Canton and Hong Kong. I have not figured out how I am going to address them yet. More will play out as I learn the defense structure.
I plan on island hopping and picking up every base he has left behind between luzon and Formosa which appears to be almost all of them. I will do this around Okinawa as well.
On the east side of the map I will begin taking bases. My primary targets are Paramushiro Jima and 4-5 of the islands to the south of that one. Once I get a foothold my secondary target is Shikukua next to the Russian base.
Formosa has a lot of troops at Kakao and troops at every base but not too many for the bases to the north where I am training divisions for amphibious landings. I need to start wearing the island down and testing the defenses before I decide how to assault it although plenty of troops are training for it and Okinawa.
The lack of troop points on my score card shows that NJP's troops are still out there somewhere...
